Literally an hour ago I picked one up for $400. I never even thought about getting one until it literally fell in my lap. I have an '86 Trooper I really want to fix up and I figured if anything this would be a great donor vehicle, but we'll see. The Blazer is in much better condition, well it runs and has brakes lol.
86, so its a 2.8, is it a 4wd or a 2wd? Edelbrock makes good carb. intakes for the 2.8, or you could do a motor swap to a V8 or another motor in the 60 degree family (3.1, 3.4). How bout some pics, and what you plan on doing to it

pics will come soon, it's pretty nasty though, Body and paint are decent, runs strong, interior s shot. No plans yet, just found a good deal and wanted a second vehicle that ran. Fiance and I commute in my 04 Dakota at the moment, she'll be taking that to work as it's a bit safer :)
Trooper is 2.3L 4 banger, 4x4. This is the 2 door 4x4 of the year for '86, before October. Like it's own little version of Isuzu Trooper, no after market kits or anything. But I love it.

Huh?
Use the interior out of the Trooper in the blazer. I dont normally let my personal opinions out, but i hate Isuzus, sorry if you stand behind them, thats just me though. You can make that little Blazer into a powerful little truck, that gets decent gas mileage too.

I don't love Isuzus, just mine. This little 86 is rock solid, and as much as it has been through it's impressive it still stands. I don't know about other Isuzus, they don't seem to stand the test of time the way this one has, or the 86 I had before it lol. The blazer is definately more powerful.
Unfortunately the interior in the Isuzu is shot. Nothing is perfect at that low of a price, especially 4x4 here in CO. I have some seat covers and 31" tires though. There certainly is a lot more support out there for Blazers vs Isuzus, unless you live in the UK.
I don't mind the opinion at all, that's why I live here vs North Korea.
ha ha, I just didnt want you to think i was flamin you or ganging up on you. Which one has the shot interior? The blazer or the isuzu?

Both! and both we're $400 lol. But the Blazer is in much better shape than the Isuzu.

let me know what you guys thing ... keep in mind it was only $400.
I do have a CD player for it and the panel to the passenger side door. I need an adapter for the CD player and a part for the door so the Window works. Runs strong but needs a little work. Its plenty well enough to drive though.
Looks like it is in really good shape for 400 bucks. I just remembered that we have the dash, steering column, gauge cluster, door windows, and door pannels for a 82-86 S10

Thanks, I'll let you know if I need anything. I actually have that panel, just need to fix the Window. I'll be heading to a local u-pull-it junk yard this weekend. Here is another link

The Blazer looks in pretty solid condition to me.And that early of a year is easy to get parts for.Since it has a 2.8 you could go to a 3.4 fairly easy.Even go with the GM crate engine if ya dont wanna build one or get a junked one.The 3.4 is a scrappy little engine that can mak some decent power.Anyway nice looking ride for the money bro.

Thanks Maximus, it has grown on me in the past few days driving around town and working on it when I get a chance. I've got an 04 Dakota which is unfortunately not 4x4, so this will come in handy for that. Especially camping. Of course with some more work it will become wheeling worthy also. But it's primary purpose, shooting varmint up in WY and MT. Mostly prairie dogs. Hooe no one here is a member of PETA lol
Dude, now you are speaking my language! What do you use for the Praire Dogs? The times I have been I took my Remington 700 in .223 with a Lupold 3x9 and had a blast!

Welcome... looks like you got a great deal! I have the same interior in my 91 Blazer... it came from an 86 Blazer.
BTW, on the Trooper... my friend had one that he tried to kill for years... had over 300K on it and just kept going. He got to the point that he stopped changing the oil to try to get it to die. Ended up just giving it to the local fire department for drill.

Yeah this one i have won't die ... well aside from the brakes lol. I'll end up junking it though, far too many problems. I'll get another one eventually.
I use a .22 and a .17hmr, both Savage. Every now and then I will pull out the SKS for the closer stupid ones. My buddy has a .17, M4, .22 ... we also have some other guys that come up with everything from a 12 gauge to a 9mm. Its a blast and ranchers love it. It's pretty sad to see about 50 acres gone to a prairie dog town. No cattle, no farming, and it isn't cheap to poison them. Not that what we're doing is noble or anything, but at least it serves some purpose aside form pure enjoyment.
We're getting off topic lol, but I LOVE the .17. It's powerful and extremely accurate, unfortunately a little wind and it's pretty much useless past 100 yards. I just need to get a good scope for my sks and that won't matter hehe.
Where do you live T Man? Where do you shoot?
I live in Southeast Kansas, but everytime I have gone it has been in extreme southwest Nebraska (we drove 2 minutes and we were in colorado) I like the .17, at 100 yds its still climbing, but you hit a blade of grass, or if someone sneezes from a block away you are screwed. We have a ruger 10/22 long that has been modified to shoot the 17's. Looks like my 22 (in my gallery). Look into a .223, you can take the long shots and its not gross overkill like your .30
