Modified?

If somebody were to put a 383 in a 1st gen. s blazer, would the floorboard need to be cut for the transmission??

Some people say that the firewall will need to be modified. I have heard both ways, yes and no. I have heard that it will fit with an HEI distributor, oh well, i own a hammer, I could care less.

when we dropped in the 383 into our 2nd gen all we did was trim up the firewall so the PG case wouldnt be so close. as far as the HEI, we positioned the motor mounts so that the entire distributor can be taken out without touching the firewall. it just takes some time and patience to make sure all the little details work together. if you have any other questions, post up.

If you don't want to do the extra work then no. If I was going to stick a V8 in my truck I'd do the work and move the engine back for better weight balance.

Any kind of racing dictates moving a front engine, rear wheel drive drivetrain as far back as possible.

in my s-10 the firewall was bashed a little where the tranny goes ... and on the blazer its fully stock ..... 88 s-10 .... 85 blazer
