Well I can get my hands on a T-5 from a camaro (dirt cheap) that only has about 50,000 on it.. Yes I know a T-56 is better but I don't have T-56 money so thats kinda out of the question for me for awhile.(thats what I really want) But how hard will it be and is there anything I should know about tryin to throw that behind the 350 I'm about to drop in my 96 S10 with a 2.2 I'm going carbed so I'm ditchin all the electronics and ABS and prolly A/C (never use it in the first place)
gauges wont work i dont think

Who needs gauges??? And I plan to use autometers.
I'm talkin problems with slave cylinders or anything like that with the install..

Slave cylinder won't be a problem, but you will have to mount the master cylinder for it. Shouldn't be too big a deal.

so I have to use the master cylinder from the T-5 will it go in place from that NV1500 or whatever is behind my 4 banger..

It doesn't really matter which master cylinder you use so long as fluid displacement is close.

okay how would I know if the one from mine is good enough? That sounds like it will cut out some extra work if I don't have too.. And whats this I hear that T5s have a issue with shortie headers and the slave cylinder?

Measure (or find) the piston diameter and stroke. From there, it's basic math.
Just in case you forgot, Pi = 3.14

If you plan on building a healthy 350 I would not suggest the T5.Its a decnt tranny for a stock to mild older 350 and for V6 application but if you build anything having around 300 lbs-ft then the tranny won't hold long. And some are rated way less than that. Most especially the ones that came in the Fbody are rated from 175-230 lbs-ft.If you look around you can find a older T56 for a decent price that will handle a very healthy smallblock.

this is what I have heard.. but for the price I'm payin for it I think I'm willing to take the chance. Is there anyway to beef up the T-5 some? And I haven't seen ANY decent T-56s around here. Or I would have grabbed it already. Everyone I ahve seen around here is 1000+ and I don't got that kinda money..

I have a t-5 in my 96 SS and it is pushing 430hp with 510tq. but i have stock tires so all it does is spin. If i install slicks it will blow. i was in the same boat you are have one why not try it? i plan on going to a tremec TKO but it is going to cost me around 3g's to do it. i used a stock s-10 master and a Howe racing throw out bearing instead of a slave. because yes the headers will not work with the t-5 bell housing and you have to use the t-5 bell housing. i will be selling all of the tranny parts and component's soon, to go with the TKO. if you need help i will try to do my best. i have a few pics of it installed also. it works great and is much more fun then a auto.

Thanks finally some answers that are going somewhere. I mean I just know I want a stick. And DAMN that is one clean underside. I'm going to try to find a T-56 but I hear that I got to find a different flywheel and something else. I just want to do this right the first time.
