I must say I really like these Diamonds I installed this past weekend. I got a nice ebay deal on a D6 set. I'm extremely happy with it thus far. The 6.5's hit pretty well for midrange speakers. The tweeters are crisp as hell. Right now I have a crappy Jensen 300w amp supplying the juice. It's just something to get me by for now.

The only ordeal I have (if you can really call it that) is the placement of the tweeters. Right now I have them temporarily installed on the rear pillars right above the 4x6's where the plastic meets the ceiling. So far it sounds ok. I've got them both angled in a way that they're pointed at my head, somehwhat. I'm a tall guy so my head sticks up just far enough above the seat where I can hear the drivers side tweet ok. I discovered that the sweet spot is still dead center of the cab between the seats. I was leaning over picking something up that had fallen back there and heard it. Kinda floored me how much of the sound I was still missing out on.

SO, my question and purpose for this post is....where should I mount those bad boys?

ALSO: any reccomendations for an AMP that isn't going to kill my wallet?

I believe that the SQ guys mount them on the A pillar's pointed towards the windshield

Try to keep them close to the mid itself.. Thats why if you were to buy kick panels they put the tweeter in a close area around it. Because they are "crossovered" together so if you pull them apart from each other it throws off the sound quality cuz they are supposed to work together... And if you put them apart from each other and they go across each others sound wave paths they will be fighting each other.

I know the ideal place is to put them in some close range to the mid. What I do, is put some double sided tape on the back of the tweet and place them around your front of the cab area. I would try to keep the front stage speaks in the front. It's great to have the tweets up in front of you, the mids at your side, and the low bass in the rear of the cab. I once put the tweets in the A pillar plastic cover, in its own little bondo compartment, and made a mesh screens for. I then painted the whole plastic pillar cover, interior color and it looked, and sounded awsome. Especially with the pink floyd song with the alarm clocks ringing, it freaked me out every time. I guess you will just need to check for the best spot for your own ears

the idea it to keep the distance the same . the distance from the woofer to your head and the distance from the tweeter to your head should be the same . also ...highs should come from in front of you , not from behind .

what a lot of SQ guys with dimes do is put the woofer in the stock location and the tweet where the 4X6 would go , aiming the tweeter at the tab on the rearview mirror .

I ended putting them on the pillar near the dash. Sweet spot is dead center of the truck of course but it still sounds prett good. I may move them again to see if I can get a better sound.

The rule of tweets is "Within 6" of the mid or beyond 18" from the mid"

I used to have an extremely nice system in my old Sonoma. Put them half way up the A-Pillars on the front with the wedge mounts so that they are perpendicular to the dash and you'll be f'n amazed at how good they sound.

Behind your head is freaking aweful for staging.
