Well before a lift I have some mechanical and front end work to do, but a lift is now neccessary. The guys over at Performance Wheel and Tire (http://www.performancewheel.com/) were kind enough to cut the fender wells to fit these tires on but it just made it obvious if I want to do anything off road I will need some more room. Anyone have any suggestions on a decent cheap lift kit? Looking for 1-4" and I really don't want to spend more than $400-$500. Here is the site with some pics of the Blazer with 31"

If you are looking for cheap lift, go with a body lift (you can get 2" or 3") with bumper brackets to relocate your bumpers in order to compensate for gaps. Now, if you are going to wheel it, body lifts are prone to collapse.... the mounting plates on the body itself bend upwards, throwing off the shift linkage and the gap between the fenders and doors. The best way to compensate and/or correct this problem is to take a 1/4" thick piece of steel that has a 90 degree angle and weld it to the floor and the inside of the rockers before putting the blocks in. This is what I plan on doing with my Blazer when I install the 2" body lift.
You can find a Performance Accessories body lift at Summit, JCWhitney or 4 Wheel Parts Wholesale... I think they are under $100 these days...

I found a 3" body lift new on eBay for $80 buy it now, so I may go that route. Just gotta get some of the mechanical stuff resolved before I do that, but I'm eager and looking forward to it. Thanks for the advice!
Here's a link to that kit also,

in my Performance accessories installation guide, it said that with the 1st gens, the way the frame horns are prevents the bumpers from being lifted to compensate for the gaps....so i'm rolling around with gap for now
So they don't have bumper relocation bracket for gen 1s? I guess the way the frame horns are built you wouldn't be able to. (you can kind of seem them here on the core support bracket for my truck: http://www.s10planet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4496&page=6 )
Any reason why you can't cut them off and weld them on brackets to sit higher up?

Cut the stock frame horns off. Buy replacement horns and drill new holes in your frame to move it up. Or you could weld them on. You will have plenty of room to take up the gap on a 2" body lift.
Haha...I just saw you said that Tink.

I have 31" tires on my '91 blazer with a 3" body lift and the only problem I have is when I turn right and hit a bump the right front tire rubs.

body is the best way to go......i would also invest in gap guards for it with a body lift

why not just roll on 31's and no lift?
Trust me, just rolling them stock is TIGHT! I had a 92 like that, and they do fit, but rub the bolts on the backside of the front fender. I just got out a BFH and bashed the bolts in.
It still rubbed if you got enough compression over a bump.

yeah, i was rolling 32's with no lift, maybe even saggin t-bars. it was just a matter of a little fender trim, and no problems.
DO NOT BODY LIFT IT! it doesn't clear the frame like you need to. all you have to do is twist the torsion bars and get a lift shackle for the rear. you could also use an add-aleaf in the rear or coil over shocks. i've been running 31/ 10.5 mudders for a while now and had no problems. i can go lock to lock WHILE over bumps, NO RUBBING!!
