I just got my 01 Blazer...I wont to do this car right..1st the alt...What do I have to chose from? Other cars that fit that are bigger? Or just the $$$ ones?
Do you want just a stock replacement, or a 105 or bigger to push a system? Stock replacement, go to advance auto, or o'reillys, bigger look at Iraggi alternators

I was trying to see if there are other cars that I could pull one from that would bolt on and have a higher output. I don't want to spend the money on a high dollar one if I don't have to.
SPend the money on one with a lifetime warranty. Ive gone through 3 starters and 2 alternators in the 6 years ive owned my truck, i only paid for 1 of each

I don't what to change it every few years...Thats why I'm doing this now, and not when it dies. Getting a stock one is cheep..But I don't want stock..And how did you go thou 3 starters in 6 years???
Im saying, buy one that you are only gonna have to pay for once. I smoke alternators because im using the stock 100 to push a 500 watt system. High load on it.

3 alternators in 6 years means i replace it every 2 years, not every 6 months.

First off, This kind of attitude will get you banned, so cool it.

Second off do not ever **** on me when I try and help you. I suggested the Iraggi guys, and also suggested a more affordable alternative by going and getting one with a lifetime warranty, as you were looking to skimp and by one from a scrap yard with "more power" than the s10 ones. Very few vehicles came with more than a 100 amp output.
I can read in 2 other languages, ive got a pretty firm hold of the english language, so thank you for your insight on that one. You said nowhere about the size of the system you are putting in. Even though you obviously think you know everything, just because its printed on the amp box doesnt mean thats the power its gonna have. Ever heard of a bench test?
Cliffs Notes: **** on me again, the ban hammer will be suggested. Thank you and you have obviously proved you do not need my help, sorry I suggested anything in the first place.

I use to run a 3500 watts in my truck when I use to do comps. So in my truck I have a powermaster 250amp alternator, upgraded thee big 3 (if you don't know what I mean http://www.s10forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2782156&postcount=8 ) I ran a 2 Yellow top system and had a extra battery I could drop in for comps. Also running "the box" which was like a 20-30 farad capacitor. This is the one place you shouldn't go cheap on. Your wiring and your charging componets can help add DBs and once you get to a certian level its not easy to gain anymore. Spend the money here its worth it in the long run. Oh yea and I haven't replaced the alternator in my truck since I bought the Powermaster 4 years ago.

i will say a large capacitor bank will help some , it wont work miracles but it will help . anything less that 10 farads is a waste of time IMO .

hay Tman...I sed what kind of power I'm running a few posts back....And I will need lots of power..Iv done two comp installs..I do know something about amps and testing them...I'm not getting crappy pyle amps...The crapiest ones I'm looking at are Hifonics..and there not crap...And I was never going to get a yard alt...New one, just from a different car..Any ways..Ill look into the powermasters...But I like the pricing on the Iraggi ...I've never really been a fan of caps...I might us one for this install...
EDIT: This is not a comp install...Just a street truck
I don't know if you have decided yet or not. I was thinking about getting a silverado alternator for my truck at a junker. I think some of the silverado's came with 145A alternators, they look like they will bolt on. I am not positive, but fairly certain. And you could get one at a junk yard. They have a longer case, but it doesn't look like there is anything behind there to get in the way. Not sure how big you want to go.
Edit, i was thinking '03-'04ish or so if i remember right.

The 145 was an option on full size from about 98 and up. But, it is a bit larger in all dimensions. So grab the bracket it came with.
