and also i was thinking about painting the engine this summer, and also hide some wires. I was thinking about just keeping it clean with black and silver/grey, any other ideas?

That's the oil fill cap. The top breaks off and leaves the lower part screwed into the oil fill extension tube. Grab the plastic piece with a pair of pliers and screw it off.
