Swapping Engines

I have a 2000 2.2L s10 extreme with 180,000 and my gas milage sux! i am getting 19miles to the gallon. i was think about rebuliding but i have a friend with a brand new ecotec vvt 2.4L crate engine. i want to know if engine will fit in my truck and will have to get new motor mounts, wire harness, ecu and intake manifold. all information will greatly help with this project.

Won't work it's a FWD engine.Totally different design and placement.

I would kill for 19. The S10 gets 16, the burban gets 9 (its a fuelie, both my previous carbd. 454's got 11. TBI SUCKS!) Im hopin for 12/17 with the 383

Get the ecotec out of your mind. Aint gonna happen. Free up the intake and exhaust

Why are y'all getting such crap mileage???

i'm a '91 4.3 tbi and i get anywhere from 20-24mpg's, and even when i drive quick (not crazy) i get around 18. Worst i ever got was 16.5... I don't get it.

I get 22 out of my S10 on a good day. (mainly highway) but in town get on it I get about 19. I have underdrive pullies, exhaust, intake, and some internal motor work. It feels hella faster on the butt dyno. But the motor is coming out because I know I can get 17 out of a SBC. Rather have hella power and get ****ty gas mileage then then have ****ty power and get ****ty mileage.

have you tried changine you spark plugs? that made my mileage crappy and then i pulled them and number 4 was burnt out completley. just an idea, 19 isint to bad i get about 21 when im not into the pedal to much.

I agree with you man. i rather have crappy gas mileage with lots of horse power. going to see about v8 swapping. it will take me about 3-4yrs but i will do it. it will take me this long cause i am getting a house bulit and it will be done this july. but i have no washer dryer fredge couch or dinning table. so all that has to come first ( per wife). then my truck. then going to turbo her jetta. or just wait tell the camaro cause back out. who knows. i just know now never to just jump in to getting a car or truck and wait for what i want. cause i wanted a v6 but i settled for the 4 and wish i haddnt.
