View Full Version : Replacing Speakers
does 93 blazer 4 door have 4 speakers or 6 speakers? i thought six but im not sure? and how do i go about replacing all of them, do i need new wires, or can i just use stock, i already have a kenwood cd player in there and now im looking at speakers, i was thinking pioneer 3-way $100. Can i just take off the top part of the ones in the dash and then replace or do i need to take other parts of dash off? In the doors do i have to pull apart the whole door? i want to do this myself and not pay 100 bucks for installation cus i know it couldnt be to hard so any help would be great. thanks
Go to a local stereo shop, they will be able to tell you what all you will need, as far as numbers and speaker size. You will need some covered female spade adaptors, as the factory speakers have a goofy wiring harness type deal that will need to be cut off. So you will need 2 female spade adaptors per speaker, wire pliers (the kind that crimp and cut) some black tape (DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE) a set of nutdrivers and a screwdriver, some patience, and of course your speakers.

Hey electrical tape comes in way more then one color Tommy... I know in the 2nd Gen that they don't use the dash places for speakers just the front and rear. I'm not sure about the 1st gen. I will do some research for you tho..
on 1st gen blazer, well mine, what is the point of the thing on the front doors, its like a vent that does nothing? anyone know what its purpose it for?
ya, its there to basically suck air out, and no, you cant fit a speaker in there, ive already tried, i think there was interfearince with the window. you might be able to cram a 4' in there though
2nd gens, well mine at least, has provisions for small dash mouted speakers.
But 6 speaker stereos were optional.
Pretty sure that vent thing in the first gen doors was
to equlize the pressure between the inside and outside.
not 100% sure though

the vent is there to prevent moisture water to get in stay in there and rust your door off

the vent is a pressure relief when you are running the heater the excess pressure has to go some place and that is where it exits. I have already tried to put speakers in my fron doors and was told by a guy who installed audio that it was not worth it. You might be able to try the kick pannel but a lot of the sound would be blocked by your feet
good to know, i was thinking about putting some speakers in there, but now im deffinetely not going to, seems like it would be to much trouble, where could i put more speakers you think? overhead console might be cool, but i dont know really where i would put it.

Kick panels are a good place.. And sound waves will travel around everything. I had kicks in my old 91 and love the sound compared to the 4X6 and the 4X10s that come stock in the first gen truck. I just ran Infinity Kappa seperates in them and 2 10s and it sounded great..
