I have a 2001 Blazer LS 4x4 that I am looking to get better gas milage out of. It has 138000 miles on it. I just got done Seafoaming it and check the air pressure in the tires. I have been regularly getting 17-18 mpg on the highway. Am I just dreaming thinking it can get better than that? Is there any simple low cost mods that I can do? I am hoping that the seafoaming will get me a 1 or 2 mpg differance. I drive 70 miles per day round trip 6 days a week. All help would be apreciated.
Thanks Much
What do you consider low cost?
Before my S/C install (and hence a new lead foot), I got better gas mileage on my '98 LS Blazer 4x4 with the three following mods (and a lighter foot):
Dynomax Cat-Back kit (could only find up to '99, might fit?) = $110
K&N FIPK Intake System = $275
HyperTech PPIII = $399
The Cat-Back kit is a good deal if you can find one that fits your year truck. The other two are more expensive, with the Hypertech adding the least in the MPG quest.
With these, I could regularly get 22+ mpg on the highway (at no more than +5mph over the speed limit 65mph, the faster you go past 60mph and the less fuel efficient you are).
I have both a the K&N kit to sell used, and a HyperTech PPIII to sell. I Just need to clean up the K&N and make sure I have all the parts, and I'm not sure what year my PPIII covers, I think it covers up to 2000 or 2001, not positive. They were both made redundant when I installed my Supercharger which includes it's own intake and programmer.

The under drive pulleys are a good choice if you do a lot of Highway driving

95% of my driving is hwy miles. Is 17-18 mpg normal for interstate driving? I live 3 miles off the interstate and my work is 1-2 miles off the interstate. I drive 38 miles each way. 38 miles x 2 times a day = 76 miles per day x 6 days a week = 456 per week / 17 mpg = 27 gal of gas per week.

Underdrive pulleys, electric fan, headers. Those are real good efficiency mods.

Would a throttle body spacer help? If so how hard would they be to install?
not for your vehicle. Listen to what these guys say.

These trucks like to drink fuel. Make sure you have a clean air filter. The guys on here have a bunch of good ideas. I tried switching to Mobil 1, but saw now fuel economy increase. The motor does seem to run quieter so I am sticking with it.
The only way I save fuel on the highway is to plan ahead and try to keep out of the gas... seems like once I break 62 mph, the fuel economy drops (according to my instant economy guage on the overhead).

I usually get around 20-21 mpg during the non-oxygenated fuel months. During winter they oxygenate the fuel around here so gas milage goes down to somewhere in the vicinity of 17-18.
I'm driving a '99 4 dr 4X4 with K&N, flowmaster muffler (it was free), and an HPP3 (but I only use it for tire size compensation - as I'm running 31" tires).

try going to a thinner oil as well, I see that you are in MD so right now would not be a good time to go thinner, but summer would be ok, I used 5w-30 in my dodge v8 and I have no problems and better milage
