i just finished a v8 swap and i was wondering if anyone would know of any rearends bolting on to my leafsprings. I have a 92 s10 shortbed reg cab , i was thinking about putting a 8.5 inch 10 bolt in it .

8.5" is a real good choice. bolts in as the original. some people use ford 8.8 or even the 9" for high horsepower applications. I went from the 7.5 to 7 5/8 from a 02 blazer. complete with disc brakes and the limited slip.

The 8.5" rearend is a good one, but for a much beefier axle, look at the 8.8 swap out of an explorer. The entire axle is 3" wider than the s10's, (1.5" on each side) and the spring perches line up almost perfectly

The 8.5 10 bolt will take one hell of a beating and is almost as strong as a GM 12 bolt.I would take the 8.5 over the 8.8 any day especially for the ease of installing one.And the 4x4 models are a few inches wider. Here is a good story about the GM 8.5 10 bolt.GM 8.5 advantage (http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/48518/)
