I know how to do it, but my queston is: The long trim that runs along my drivers and pass. side does that have just glue on it or does it clip in too?

Depends on the year, but pretty much everything in the 90's has gone to the glue adhesion, only rarities and earlier models use clips etc. In doubt, just try and edge, if its clipped etc, you will be able to get something like fishing line etc to run back until a clip exists. Doesnt go anywher, or very very little, its glued!

Glue on my 92. So I would guess at least anything later is also glue. But man that glue sticks. Takes a lot of work to clean it up.

What is the best way to remove the glue from the vehicle without messing the rest of the paint up?

Glue gone or lighter fluid

I would say use a heatgun, but you can burn the paint if your not ust to use one. The fishing line thing works well, but if you do have the single wide strip of double sided sticky tape instead of the two thin strips you can heat the trim peise with a hairdryer to make the tape softer and easyer to cut. Wd-40 works well also at not only removeing the left over tape but allso sofening the tape before removal. The most important thing of all is not to get in a hurry.
i striped all the moldings off mine right after I got it

You can also use a die grinder with an eraser wheel attached to it. Most automotive paint supply stores should carry them.

Eraser wheel to take the bulk off (I stripped the crap off my truck in 20 mins with one and a cordless drill) Then go over it with 3m adheasive remover to get any little bits left over.

I've always used a regular blowdryer to remove the trim, then some bug and tar remover to clean up the remnants of the glue.

I used a heatgun to warm up the trim, then just yanked it off once it was good and hot (I used pliers while pulling it, not a fan of blisters). Then I put goo gone on a rag, heated up the glue with the heat gun and rubbed it off. Took a while to get it all. I wasn't able to find an eraser wheel, and after a month of looking with tape residue on the Blazer I just spent a Saturday night and cleaned it all off.

I used a razor blade to remove the leftover glue.

heh, with my steady hand, i'd need to have a spray gun ready to fix my quality trim removal!

Goop off works well. But it's cheaper if you can get some acetone and toluene and mix it about 50/50. Just a warning it's highly flammable and wear rubber gloves.

Yea i don't recomend it for everyone. It's a learned skill from years of detailing cars. Once you get the hang of it it's easy, but do you really want to learn on a good paintjob.
