Just stumbled acrosss the site,, wow this has got a lot of pretty good info.

Sure glad I found you guys!!

Just picked up my 2000 a month ago it is mostly for the winter driving as the Z28 comes out once the salt is washed off of the roads in the Spring.

Just ironing out some bugs with it as when you buy used well you know,,, the dealer is being pretty good and did work with me. Last bug is a drive line noise and I have it narrowed down to the hanger bearing going in tommorrow. Dealer replaced front ball joints, front pads and rotors, some U Joints, serviced all fluids, new tailgate strap, changed the driver door pins/bushings, passenger door weather strip and threw in a set of new back tires (snow grips) eventhought hte all seasons were fine for life.

My 4.3 Vortec is only getting about 18 mpg highway should I not be getting closer to 24 - 25?? My hanger bearing is going but I am sure it is not the cause of the poor gas mileage. I have bought new plugs, a new fuel filter, both to be put in once it warms up a bit. I have changed the air filter. I have heard that a throttle body spacer may help?? Also a K & N air filter. Since it is mainly on the highway would a cold air induction really help or would the K & N be enough? Truck has abou 139K Kilometres

A lot of questions but I am new right??

Welcome.

I only get 25mpg if i keep it down around 55-60mph. Any faster than the fuel ecnonomy drops to around 20mpg. 18 isn't bad if you drive fast, or you have 4x4 i don't think.

Throttle body spacer is useles on your truck, they only work on tbi's, and carbs. You have multiport injection.

A k&n might help a little. Watch out for the oiled ones like the k&n, they do tend to get the maf's dirty. You do actualy have a cold air intake from the factory. However if i was going to buy one right now it would probably be this one: http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp&autofilter=1&part=AID%2D200%2D133&N=115+4294908216+4294907469+4294924666+4294925239+ 4294813803+4294840129&autoview=sku

New plugs may help, wires, cap, rotor.

Hey PP:

Greetings from a fellow newbie to this site. I have been on a couple of the ZR2 sites for a couple of years, but I stumbled upon this gem when I started checking for leather seats for my ZR2.

Like you, my Blazer serves as my daily driver and winter transit so my C5 can sit out the salt covered roads of CNY.

The Z's are super thirsty, but your 2WD should do better than 20 highway (I would hope withouth the extra driveline junk I have).

Mileage does tend to drop during the winter months, so you may see significant improvement with the arrival of spring... then the Z28 can come out and try to keep up with my plastic Chevy :)

Yeah I'm hoping for better fuel economy in the Spring. Your plastic Chevy is a Chevy Icon,, the Bow tie is still the best thanks for the welcome.
