hey hows it going i have a 98 2.2l....i blew the motor we think there was a valve problem and now my motor is porked...i am not very knowledgable about vehicles kinda learnin as i go...i have the suspension down and all that but i dont really know didly bout the motor/engine bay....i was wondering if anyone knew where i could find step by step to pull my motor...am i better off just buyin a haynes manual?.....ive searched a few forums and no one says anything bout pullin em only puttin stuff in i was wonder if anyone could help it would be much more appreciated i havent had my truck in 4 months and i miss her i finally have money for the new motor so now i just gotta get the old one out and prep for the new one....so if anyones got posts or links or anything that will help me out i would be more than thankful....thanks again, your fellow dimer

the haynes manual is helpful, i just finished pulling out the engine and transmission in my 98, and its just the 2 motor mount bolts and the transmission mount. if you dont have an engine lift it will be difficult. you just got to pay attention to the egr valve if you pull the engine and trans out in one sweep, because it will hit the firewall. the wiring is all pretty straight forward. i pulled the engine out a foot or so to reach all the wiring on the passenger side. thats about all i can think of at the moment, if i missed something or you got any other questions let me know.

yo you think its worth pullin the tranny off and just pullin the block out or should i do it all at once?

do the engine first brother, will make it easier on you
I disagree. It will be easier to remove it together. That way you dont have to screw with hooking up the torqure converter or clutch assembly while you are under your truck, you can do it while its out and easy to work on

well i spent the last three days workin on it and i feel like i got no where...cant get the tranny mount free and cant get the down pipe off the exhaust manifold....as of right now looks like im gonna have to bite the bullet and send her to a shop for the transplant...pretty bummed put a lot of work in....now the question is how to get her on a flat bed haha....with a freak 5/6 drop thats more like a 7/7 i dont think ill just be rollin her up there haha, well guys thanks for your help it was much appreciated
