hello guys ... cant figure out whats going on .... I replaced my fuel regulator because it was leaking ... The only problem I had before was bad gas mileage.. and a little bit of rough idle .... I put the new fuel reg in and cleaned the outside of the lines and spider unit with fuel injector cleaner, some of the fuel injector cleaner went in the holes in the center of the intake ....I also check the egr valve to make sure it was fine .... When i started the car it ran real rough for a minute with black smoke come out of the tail pipes ..... Now its still running rough on idle and only black smoke if you stomp the gas ....I took it for a drive thinking maybe it will clear up ... car runs fine unless you stomp on the gas ... right before a **** in high rpm's in stalls like to much gas , stubbles for a sec or so and shifts .. runs fine in the next gear until you get it again in high rpm's and does the same ... If you keep your foot out of it , it runs fine ...... what should i do first ..... thanks

what year and motor.. Since you said spider, I am thinking cpi although it could be vortec. If it is cpi, i believe these problems are related to the nut kit.

its a 1993 s10 blazer ...so you think i need to replace the nut kit to .... i could not see any signs of discoloration on the nut kit side , when i opened the intake and replaced the fuel pressure regulator... since my last post i opened the intake again and checked that i put the regulator correct and that there was no leaking, and its not... i don't mind changing the nut kit if thats the problem .. how do i make sure its that..... like i said before it really did not run that bad before i changed the regulator... but i know the regulator was leaking due to the reg side was much cleaner ....also come to think about it on the nut kit side there was a little fuel in the bottom of intake were the bolt hold it down to the block... but no discoloration....

Wait on someone with more cpi experience and see what they would do.

Running a fuel pressure test would be the thing to do right now. Also, is the ck. engine lamp on? If so, what codes?

From your description you have more than one problem. The black smoke when you stomp the gas and losing power at high rpm's before the shift don't correlate.

Clear the ecm codes and see if they re-set. The check engine lamp is working?

the codes that i posted were old codes .... i cleared the ecm and drove the car again ... but the same problems were there ... and yes the check engine light works but the codes do not reapear.... i check the fuel pressure ... when you turn the key on it just to about 72 psi then steades at about 66psi with just the key on ... when i start the car the pressure is about 70 psi ... if the car starts to lope or run a litte rough the pressure increase to about 72-73psi until it stable again and then the psi stays at 70

Fuel pressure is too high. I'd say it's probably not returning fuel down the return line. Hence the black smoke.

I'd also gamble the pump is going south, hence the falling down at the top. If the pump was good, deadheaded pressure would be about 90-105, not 70-75.
