Explane to me how I can wire a external oil pump into my computer. Also explain to me these pics. Can I put a line in the bottom of the oil pan then to the pump, then to the turbo then back through the oil filler neck?

What are you trying to do with an external oil pump?

a possible "squires turbo". I have been looking @ the install pics and I dont think it would be that hard.

Pressure to the turbo would just be a plumbing issue. Getting it back to the pan I would use a scavenge pump. Belt driven so the faster the motor spins the more it scavenges.

how big are the belt driven ones?

My truck doesnt have a whole lot of room. Why not a electric pump?

Nothing specific, just normally see scavenge pumps used for return purposes.

Do you see any problems w/ a rear mounted turbo on a s-10?
I need to know about electronic boost controlers too.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Haven't gotten that far with it though.

What do you think the hardest part would be on a 4cyl?
I am going to try to weld everything.

the oil pump i posted is the scavnge or the sending pump?

I can't tell from the pics. With the 4 banger you should have plenty of room underhood. That's where I'd put it.

Everyone here @ wk is saying the rear mounted turbo is a joke. They say it will have too much lag. What do you think?

I read the write up on it in Hot Rod and they said they were surprised at the lack of lag. But then again, I've never seen them give a product bad marks either!

nobody that has put one on has anything bad to say about it!

it's just weird

The write-up is in the November 2004 issue of Popular Hot Rodding.

It IS a pump they use to get the oil back to the crankcase.

I would also be sure to include an oil cooler after the turbo- most would say before to give the turbo better effiency, but that could lead to coking problems which aren't detectable untill its too late.

as far as the rear mounted turbo thing goes I'd say go for it. I'm a NA man myself, but from what I read if you heat wrap the exhaust up to the turbo you won't gain too much spool time. Also something to thin kabout is water injection instead of an intercooler- I've done som reading on it and talked to some people that used it (on a 1200hp roots blown race big block pontiac) and it seems to help some- plus water's free.

thinking the same.......i have a garret t04 and flange. My plans were to weld the flange on the y-pipe and tap into the stock oil cooler lines for my supply. The hardest part i see would be running mendrel bent pipe from the turbo to the intake.

import the right size turbo and min lag
