View Full Version : New Tires, how tall can i go?
Looking for anyone who can help out! I have a 2000 ZQ8 sonoma, with 17x8 wheels. Im looking at a new set of Yokohoma H/T-S GO51's. They make them up to 31 inches high, and i would like to get those, but i dunno if they'll rub or not, so the question is, has anyone With a ZQ8 2in front drop
and ZQ8 steering box tried tires up to 31 X 8 in 265/70R17 113S ? did they rub? or do i need to go smaller
Thanx
Do you realize how tall a 31 inch tire is? I run those on my suburban.

yeah I was thinking the same thing tommy
ESPECIALLY with a zq8. If i might ask a question....what do you want such a tall tire on a lowered truck for?
yeah.... the zr2s come with 31"ers.... why do you wanna go with them

he may be going with a bigger rim, in essence having a bigger tire
taller tires = better gas milege, gotta do it,
the tires i have now are 28 inches, 31 inches is 3 inches more
wich means only 1.5 inches on each side.....
change your gear ratio in the rear. It would be cheeper than buying a new set of 31's, and would look a hell of a lot better on a zq8

taller tires lower your RPMs at a given speed, this does not mean that you get better gas milage. If you get your engine out of its power band it will actuall do worse on gas milage, plus the extra rolling mass of a larger tire, i would be very suprised to see any real increse in gas milage

agreed i get better milage with 3.42s w& 29" tires,than when I did with 3.08s & 29" tires on an auto.

Pft, 31's are small, what are you guys talking about? I can't wait to get rid of these little tires and get some real meats under my truck :)
And 31's aren't gonna help you in gas mileage. I'm lucky to get 20mpg on the highway and I'm stock with low miles.
