My brother has a 2.2 2000 s10 and we changed the starter on it. There is something going on with it because it keeps burning the 20a fuse that is called ECM B. (fuse box in the hood) That fuse wont let the truck turn on because i tried it on my truck (i removed the fuse) and it didn't turn on. When i put it it turned on. Does anyone know what ECM B is? Before I even turn the key all the way so the car can crank it blows it up. The car key is all the way turn but am not cranking the car and it burns it. I used like six fuses and all of them got burned. When I bought the started and installed it the very first time it did turn on fine I then turned it off and did it again it it was fine. About a minute later something smelled like it was burning and a little smoke came out from the bottom. I think it was the Wd40 becuase I sprayed it so the bolts could get loose but maybe it wasn't. Does anyone know what can be the problem. Oh I took the started to autozone and they checked it about four times and everything came out fine. Please let me know what could be the problem. I put the wiring back on the starter fine two times so I don't think it will be it. Please help me out thanks a lot

ECM B fuse sends power to the VCM and the fuel pump relay. Orange wires. Sounds like either you pinched a wire or put a ground on the starter terminal.

You can try removing the fuel pump relay and unhooking the VCM to see if that gets rid of the problem and trace it from there.
