Hey guys, your site really rocks!! I just bought a 99' Blazer and quickly found that the engine had no compression on #1 cyl. After further investigation I found that engine replacement or rebuild was necessary. What a buy!! So being the type to make the best of any situation I thought, this is a chance to improve the hp & torque. I currently have the engine removed and am open to any suggestions to accomplish this. This is the family rig so I have to keep it reliable and good fuel eco. I am a mechanic by trade and have most resources close at hand.

Go with a good cam and maybe bump the compression up a bit with some new pistons.

While you are in there, get it bored out .30 over. Go with a cam, and then you can do the bolt ons as money becomes availiable. Pistons should be cheep, because remember, the 4.3 is essentially a Gen1 small block minus 2 cyls, so you can use .30 over pistons from a sbc
