heres the lowdown since im a new member...i traded my old modded 89 Probe turbo because i wanted something that i wouldnt be afraid to do body work on and something better for the winter or when my 95 probe undergoes its engineswap/sc install so i traded my probe to a buddy of mine for his 87 S-10

this thing was broken into and stolen by someone so the whole center console is torn to hell and not repairable unless i find a complete center console..im curious if i should just fab a fully shaved column and put the ign and everything somewhere else, then this kid put like a 93 or something dash in it and ghetto wired the windshield wipers and abunch of other controls(he even removed the HVAC controls) i have 2 of the same bodystyle s-10 for parts vehiclesbut they are a few years newer, i was curious if i could swap some of those accessory harnesses out without all the modding.

the one truck centerconsole was already pulled out then torn down by my buddy so thats not an option anymore, also since this thing is a 4spd i was wondering if somehow a 5spd from the v6 model would somehow fit if like the bellhousings were interchangeable(if they even have removeable housings)

this truck is in a complete hell condition at the moment, im still worrying about where to fit the door poppers since it already has shaved handles

i figure ill switch off what im working on every other week, go from bodywork to interior and whatnot else...i did a couple searches but i dont think i could find the right words to actually search for..so im sorry if theres all the info i need right in front of my face, the 2 forums im on id be eaten alive if i posted a question that was answered in a FAQ (i hope its in the right subforum too)

thanks again to any future help i hope to stay on this forum and become a part of this web community

The later S consoles should fit just fine. (5 and up they got pretty nice.

There are 2 different 5 speeds, those with integral bell housings and those that bolt to an existing bellhousing (like yours). Sitting here, I can't tell you EXACTLY what years to choose from, but since you've got a 2.8, you're pretty much stuck getting other 60 deg trannys. I'd look for a set-up out of a early 90's 3.4 Camaro. Maybe you could get the motor also for a future upgrade.

Welcome to the planet!

Sounds like your ride is similar to mine... my 91 Blazer was broken into and the interior trashed. I replaced the entire interior with one from an 86. You should be able to swap out the wiring you need from those trucks to yours... I used some of the wiring from the 86 in my 91 and it works fine. The only thing that is a little messed up on mine is the power windows. For some reason, they work opposite now (pushing the button down rolls the window up and vise versa).

My steering column was fubared too and I used the one from the 86 as well... the only difference there was the mounting holes were a little different on the firewall, so I drilled new ones.

Anyhow, good luck on your project.

As of now im straightening out all the wire harnesses he hackjobed and messed with, he ghetto wired the wiper motor to a switch for hell knows what reason but once i get all of his custom wires out of the truck ill start running OEM wires from one of my parts trucks(alot of stock wiring still remains intact while some is hacked up)

Well damn, a 2.5! Now, that's a torquer of a 4 banger there. Makes those 2.2's look like weedeaters...........

Yikes, someone really did a number on that column! Mine wasn't quite that bad... I could still drive it. Are you going to swap interior parts from the other s10s?

The body looks straight and clean though (as long as the body work was done right), great project! Don't know about those pink rims though. ;)

got a LITTLE bit of time today to work on some stuff since the ignitor on my pgt is about to bite the dust i was busy searching for how to get an HEI module to work on a 95 pgt+source out prices for parts so ill let the pics do the talking
not a whole lot different but youll see why...

i also pulled that nasty busted ass grill off and i can wait until i find somethign that fits the theme of the truck

so i decided ill finish the previous owners job and shave the rest of the reverse tailgate, well 2 hours of sanding and trying to get as much paint/bed coating off it, it looked like this

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c68/Mazdaracingmx6/truck017.jpg
apparently these people didnt know how to weld using gas, how to clean a surface before spraying primer or to even hook the reverse tailgate properly then my uncle shows me this

well son of a *****! why didnt you show me earlier!!!!
now the old tailgate has a home where it fits in better

im working on sourcing out a carb'd 350 chevy just to get the motor mounts and whatnot accomplished and to beat on it abit afterwards i plan on building an entire motor from the ground up...im also going to redo the rear with coilover suspension and find a better rear end to suit my need for speed

okay, i already have ANOTHER update..i already got a 350sb along with a turbo 350th trans..problem is the trans was rebuilt before the vehicle it was in sat for 8 years..i need to figure out how i can make it come alive without ruining anything..do i take it off the motor, flush it, refill then turn it by hand to prime it? anywho apparently we have an abundance of bolt-on parts for small block chevys, from carbs to exhaust headers off the top of his head he named off abunch of parts and where they are at the house..so now my worries lie on doing research on a rear end to use(im looking for good accel/ quarter mile times..)

so im gutting this entire truck inside and out and pulling everything off the frame to sandblast it all and go from there while the engine gets rebuilt from the ground up

So much to answer, so little space.

#1 The Columns from any S10 (82-93/94 (Blazers)) Will go in there. I prefer the columns from 86-92 though, they are a little nicer.

#2 As far as the poppers, most i have seen are located in the lower door skin close to the back edge (not the side with the hinges) You actually have a pretty decent start to go from, altough some (like myself) would say that the blue interior is a touch on the tacky side, but thats nothing a few good cans of spray paint and an afternoon wont fix. You arent gonna get eaten alive on here, so dont worry about it, if it needs to be moved, we admins will get it in the right spot, just try and get it close though ;)

#3 For the rear end, look at the 8.8" out of a ford eploder, it will be a little wide, but tis a good rear end. Your stock rearend, (7.5") should be alright with no more than 250 or so hp. Ive seen them touch 11's in the quarter before they grenade, but ive also seen them puke on a light burnout, so, its all in whether you got lucky or not.

By the way, welcome to the planet.

im under the impression at the moment that the entire cabwill come off the frame so i can hoist the cab up and do body work to the rockerpanels/respray everything with underbody coating so i dont need to be so worried about body rot am i correct?
