Hi ..i missed all ..somehow i got erased -but im back . I got some swap questions. This winter i wanna start my v8 swap . I have an 03 zq8 4.3 .
Im think like 1996 to 1999 5.7 is best way to go -but i got questions ,
do i modify my harness and use 5.7 trucks ecm -or do i just use the harness ecm and all from the donor truck .
Also will my 4.3 radiator work ..
My truck is a 4l60e was the the 96-99 trucks 4l60e's as well for tranny ...last swap i did was carbd 350 in a 1998 and although i did it using factory fuel pump and making factory gauges work(even speedometer and odometer ) it was a true bear
i called jtr they wanted to sell me a new book ,,im like hey ive read the book and theres only a few pages on this second gen swap .
this looks to me like an easy route-but knowledge is power so any tips you can give me and any aid in exactly what years of vortec truck or van motors is appreciated ..please

thanks

also any idea on what causes a po172 and po175 code light comes on about every 2000 miles ..today i drove it 300 miles it wont come back on ..start of a bad 02? i smell a burning smell like a mothball smell after hr of hard driving and tailpipe looks rich ,,

Moved to proper forum

The '02ish express vans had the ls1 computer, but you have an '03. You might be able to convert to the '01-'02 ls1 style s10 computer, and tune it for the v8. The '96up 5.7's should be able to be adapted to whatever wiring harness you plan on using. The only difference i can think of would be knock sensors might need some re-thought.

Hey Maxx great post, the link you posted answered a lot of questions I had in my little mind such as ABS, A/C, stock instrumentation connection. Looks like Currentperformance could supply the harness for my engine swap if the engine is not equipt with one. Very informative. Thanks

No problem. Most of my answers on here you find are in the form of links. Cause thats what i have read myself. And one may be able to understand them better then i can re-interrupt the information.
