what is the coldest normal temp range for an s-10 my truck is at 43 degrees does that seem a normal working temp.

On Max/Recirc setting you are recirculating inside air so that's not an accurate method. Put the A/C mode setting on normal, fan on high, then measure the temp. A 30 degree drop from outside temp (or better) is what you would expect to see.
