I'm converting to dual e-fans soon and was wondering if any of you guys that have done this could answer me a question...

How did you end up securing the top part of your radiator?

Did you re-use the stock fan shroud and maybe cut away the part you don't need anymore, or maybe you purchased a top plate somewhere? Anybody got pics of your setup?

I guess if all else fails, I could modify the top portion of the original fan shroud and go with that. Seems like it would look like crap.

Any ideas about what to do about this would be appreciated.

I used my shroud but I only used on fan the Taurus fan.It works great and on these 90 plus degree days with AC on she doesn't run but about 5 degrees warmer than she usually does.

I like HenryJ's write up with LS1 fans...

I'm installing the flex-a-lite 210 dual fan setup, which I think is slightly smaller that the fan setup he used here.

Reckon the best tool to use when cutting the fan shroud is a dremal, or maybe a jig saw?

No need to modify the shroud with the flx-210. Fits right in there.

Far out...that would kick some major butt and save me some hassle.
So, the kit did come with a way to mount the fan with some sort of adapters, right?

I'm not too keen on using plastic straps.

Still need something to keep the radiator in place.Either cut on the stock shroud or make your own bracket.

Here's the pic's of my dual fans. They are on the front of my radiator. Saves worry about radiator mounting. Then cut the fan shroud if you want. Makes more room under the hood.

When you originally removed your OE fan, do you remember if it was left handed threads, or not?

Normal threads. Righty-tighty, lefty-loosy...........

Crap, now I don't know which way to turn it...

I've had several people tell me it's left handed threads so as the engine turns, it keeps it gooten tight.

I finally got me Flex-A-Lite dual fans installed.

Is it normal for these fans to have a slight rattling sound to them at start up and shut down? It almost sounds like like one of the fans are loose.

Maybe I need to take them back out and make sure the nuts are tight.

Well, I finally finished my eFan conversion.
Pics available at http://www.mys10truck.com/96/efan.html (http://www.mys10truck.com/96/efan.html)
for inquiring minds...

It turned out perfect, except the fans have a very slight bit of "play" in how they are mounted in their spindles.

This causes a slight rattling noise at start up and at shut down. They are securely fasted by a metal retainer, so they won't come off.

I'm going to call Flex-A-Lite tomorrow and see whassup with all that and get their opinion. I doubt this will be an issue though.

Looks good. Might have to get me the 210 instead of my ls1 fans that i haven't installed yet.

They do fit perfectly between the radiator tanks, and you can use your OE fan shroud as is to hold the fan assembly in place.
