heres my question.
1.what will i need to complete the swap
i know that i will need the motor transmission wiring harness/computer duhh but what else will i need
2.what mods have to be made to the truck to get the motor fit
3.will the radiator fit in the same place
4.can i use the stock clutch fan
5.does the steering have to be modified
6.will the transmission line up in the same place
7.does the fuel system have to be modified
im on a budjet and want to get the truck up and running in about 2 weeks beacuse this is my daily driver.

If you are going with a tbi setup, check this out http://www.truckstv.com/show_details.aspx?iid=7038
Look at the truck gear. It tells what they used. I think they bought an aftermarket tbi, and had a new chip programmed for the computer.

Mmmmkay, lets start from the beginning.
1) You will need engine mounts, motor mounts, you can get by with your 4.3 rad, but I would suggest an upgrade, and either headders, or exhaust manifolds out of a v8 3rd gen camaro.
2) Blood, sweat, and maybe a few tears, other than that, possibility a little firewall massaging.
3) Yes, you can re-use your stock 4.3 rad, although ive heard of overheating problems when run with A/C, and while sitting in traffic. www.v8s10.com has corvette radiators (the one to run with the swap) for 130 shipped.
4) Could, but why would you want to? Get a Taurus E fan from a salvage yard, be better in the long run.
5) No
6) Will be the same length (if you go with another 700-R4/4L60 auto trans) stock driveshaft will work as well.
7) Possibly. If you are going from TBI to TBI, then no, if you are going from CPI to TBI then you will need a pressure regulator to get your fuel pressure down to 12-14 psi.
www.v8s10.com has all the conversion parts you will need.

If he has a heavy duty radiator, he can move it forward and reuse it.
Besides www.v8s10.com also check out http://www.v8s10s.com
you actually dont have to use the wiring harness, but if you dont you wont have anything but heat a/c and a radio, just wire to the alternator.

How would you go about that? I may be rethinking my TBI setup and going with old fashion carburation, but need the computer for my gauges, trans, etc.

www.s10v8.com (http://www.s10v8.com) has parts for v8 swaps. www.jagsthatrun.com (http://www.jagsthatrun.com) has v8 conversion manuals and some parts. Hope this helps a little.

if you run a TBI V8 it would be very plug and play. You would only really have to change the exaust and have the computer chip changed for a V8 application which is very easy becasue the same PCM was used in fullsize trucks that year and they had the 5.7.
Your tranny does not need to be change if you have a 4.3 it is the same bolt pattern, the 4l60e which you would have was also put behind v8s and there are no differences between a 4.3 one and a 5.7 one.
Also the motor mounts off the 4.3 can be used on the v8, because the 4.3 is just a cut down version of the 5.7.

I'd just like to say, no. Radiator support doesn't have a large enough opening to accomodate the 4.3 rad. but it will take the vette one. Also I got bored at work & milled my own custom radiator brackets, out of aluminum, to the same spec as the JTR ones.. I just don't feel like paying $30-40 for something I can do for free & have look better.

Oh, another thing... you would need to convert to the 2.8L V6 frame side engine mounts.. they are lower & they look about the same as a vettes. If you use 4.3L mounts they are taller & will make the engine sit higher & flex more, plus almost all the motor mount kits you'll find are made for the 2.8L mounts. Even though I think the JTR book is crap, it still holds some good info. Just not the kind you should be seeing at about $30 a book.
