View Full Version : step shaver prob
I just had my step shaver kit installed and now i can not seem to open tailgate fully. It seems to be rubbing only on one side, doesn't seem perfectly straight on the bottom but top part yes. It seems to be hitting on the upper lip of the bumper. Would it be best just to cut off part of that lip?
My next question is a bit dumb but do you have to buy the flip kit for the license plate or do you just bolt it on directly. If bolted on directly and suggestions on how not to crack the paint? I figure just drill out the holes slowly.
Did you get the metal or fiberglass stepshavers, and is it rubbing on the roll pan or the stepshaver? If you got the glass ones, you can take it off, and hog out the bolt holes a little bit to get the shaver moved down.
As far as the plate flip kit ive never heard of a liscense plate flip kit, maybe a link to what you are talking about so I can try and steer you in the right direction.
It is in fiberglass. If I trim down where the holes are wont it be off compared to the sides. Here is the link for the flip kit. I think that I will just drill two holes for the plates.

License plate flip up kit is only need if you have a hidden hitch behind your rollpan.

Ya thats what I thought, thanks.
Now here are some pics of the prob I have with the gate not opening fully. any suggestions?
1st pic: Lip on roll pan seems to curve in
2nd & 3rd pic: scuff marks where it is hitting
4th pic: Tailgate (on) hitting on right side
5th pic: roll pan lip does not seem straight.
Note: I am thinking with two rearend hits in six months may have moved some stuff around.
thanks
