i'm looking at swaping my punny 4cyl 2.2L for a 350 chevy 4 or 2 main bolt. i just wanted to know if this engine can fit in with a bit of modification and what i would be able to use still from my stock engine. Any help would be greatly appriciated where i have never done a swap before.. thanks

Moved to the proper forum.

It will fit. You can't really use anything from the 4 banger though, including trans, going to need one that will bolt up to the small block.

Pontiac motor will be different than the chevy motor. You will ahve to build custom mounts, for the motor and the trans, plus fabricate your own headders.

just a quick question i heard that the 305 will mount using the factory mounts.. is this true?

I am pretty sure you will still need to make/buy motor mounts as the 305 and 350 are the same block. I bought the V8 swap manual from JTR (actually it came in my swap kit) and it has been very helpful on what to modify and what will fit. Of course these guy and gals are too.

Good luck!

You will need to do the same effort to put the 305 (chevy) in there as the 350, why go the small displacement route?

Yeah the JTR books isn't that bad... if you've got a 1st gen. If you have a 2nd gen the book, especially if you'd like to drop in a gen 3 motor, is pretty much good for toliet paper.

i just don't want to twist the truck in half with the power.. or blow out the rear end

Don't have to worry about twisting the truck yet. But the rear end is always a concern. A T/A rear cover will help greatly there.

a 350? you can do WHATEVER you want. there are so many 350 parts out there it all depends on the size of your wallet;)

off the top of my head;
cam, heads, rockers, intake manifold, performance carb, high compression pistons, stroker crank, it is endless.

and by the way to t/a cover is just a beefier rear diff cover. jegs and summit both have their version made from aluminum. it helps suport the diff when under high torque.
