ls1 and stock trans

Can I do a ls1 conversion on my 96 s10 4x4 and keep with the stock tranny the blazer came with?

Short answer yes, if your tranny is a 4l60-e. Long: more than likely want to rebuild(upgrade) the stock tranny.
