I just finished installing Blazer disc brakes on my '02 S10. The E-brake works fine and the brakes are working, but my pedal is a good bit softer than before. The pedal goes about 1.5" to 2" before I can feel any slight braking. I bled all my calipers numerous times, my bleeder screws are on top, and the fluid isn't very old. I plan on replacing all my flex lines with steel braided ones to eliminate expansion. I read where Old Man wrote that the proportioning valve from the Blazer needs to be used. Where is this valve located? I've never seen a stock proportioning valve on an S10. Would a Blazer master cylinder make any difference? What about using a master cylinder from an older S10- one with a 15/16" bore (something else I read), as opposed to my 1" bore master cylinder? I've heard that to thoroughly bleed the system of all air, I need to have a computer hooked up to my ECM to activate the valves inside the ABS unit to release trapped air. Is this true? I've also seen a few mentions of some sort of a residual pressure spring that I need to replace. Something else that is new to me. I want my brake pedal to feel the same as or better than when I first got my truck. My pedal doesn't have to be absolutely rock-solid, but I know the brakes could be much more responsive. I know this scenario has been repeated over and over, but I've never seen a definite answer. What do I need to do?
