I have a S-10 ZR2 extended cab and I recently purchased an aftermarket stereo. I noticed the stock one is huge, so I'm wondering what other people have done and what you can do to put under it or maybe install something to hold little items and such.

Any ideas and where to go to buy something like that or what kind of mods can be done?

thanks

i have not seen a installation kit for a s-10 that has a compartment under the radio. everyone i have seen has just put the radio right in the middle of the hole.

What year do you have. I have an aftermarket radio in mine and it fits fine. I had a stock Delphi tape deck when I bought it. You should have no prob wit installing a aftermarket wit the correct installation kit.

I have an '02 s-10. You have to be very specific when asking for the mounting kit for din unit that you are installing and MAKE SURE that it is for the same year. It will have a compartment underneath the unit. I have done the install myself and it took three times before I got the correct one. Once I did it was a piece of cake and I did not have anymore problems.

I have a 98 s-10 and I just went to Best Buy to get the mounting kit that costed me round $25 and it had no compartment under it. No troubles wit installation and took me first time. Not all kits have a lower compartment. Look into what you want.

Just to let everyone know....

I emailed Crutchfield, who in turn referred me to http://www.metraonline.com/ (http://www.metraonline.com/)
which didn't exactly list the product for my truck, but I was sent another email saying the 99-2003 model would fit. Quick search on Google and I ordered the mounting kit.

Thanks for all your help.
