ABS Light on, speedometer dead

Help i ABS light came on the otherday and the speedometer has died on me.. sometimes when i push mu brakes the ABS cuts in and makes the loud noise.. has anyone have any idea what is wrong? any help i get today will help alot.

The speed sensor at the rear of the trans. sends the signal to the VCM. From there it is output to the Speedo. But, the ABS also sends wheel speed to the VCM. I'd get the abs codes and see which wheel sensor is dropping out. A lot of times rust will buid up on the magnet and simply cleaning off all the debris from the sensor will get it working again.

Fix the ABS first and then see what happens with the speedo. If the speedo is still inop. then it's probably just the sensor.

Hey, mine did the same thing, but instead of the speedo, my shift lite quit coming on, havent figured out what happened yet

Most of the "discount" auto parts stores will read your codes for free. See which ABS code you're setting and let's go from there.

well i don't have much coice now.. everything is closed here now and it's going in the garage tomorrow regardless so..

any idea what this could run if it's the sensor?

The sensor is about $45. Most places now charge an hour diagnosis/checkout (regardless if it only takes 15 mins) and you've got an hour labor involved in changing the sensor.

Why not save a few bucks and see what code it's setting? Like I said, might be able to clean it up and keep on truckin'.

plus there is another code i'll get as well.. check engine light is on becasue of one of the oxygen sensors.. i'm getting that replaced

the oxygen sensor didn't show up, the speedometer speed sensor is gone and the abs didn't show up becasue the light didn't come on
