I would like to add some clearence to my 1991 gmc s-15 jimmy the front end sits a bit higher than the rear end. I have 235/75-15 on it and they are an aggresive all terain. I heard that i could do something with my torsion bars in the front and add bigger shackles in the back. I was wondering if someone could esplain to me where to find the shackles, and how high i can go before i have to worry about drive axel angle and stuff. I only want two inches of lift. Also, can someone explain to me the process of the torsion bar tweeking to gain 1" to 1.5" lift? I would greatly appreciate it and thank you!

You could add a 1-2 inch block in the rear instead of messn with the shackles.with the torsion bars, there should be 2 set screws(one on each side) that will raise and lower your front end. I believe if you turn the screws inward the front end should go up.

Well the leaf springs are under the axel on mine so I am not sure how that works. I understand the torsion bars and now I priced shackles for a 2" lift with two rancho shocks. That should give me the 2" in rear and the 1"-1.5" in the front, but the only thing I am worried about is the stress on the front end and the angle of the drive shaft is this something I have to worry about, someone said if you go 2.5" or more thats when you start thinking about that. I just don't want to mess up my vehicle because it is also my everyday driver but I really need some ground clearance for 4wheelin it does great in mud and snow but frame is low. Thanks for the reply and if anyone else has any more feedback i will continue to check this.
THANKS!

make sure you get a aligment if you tweek your torsen bars, if not expect to wear out the font end components really quick. With the shackel just be carful with your pinion angle. If you are looking to run any thing bigger than a 31 inch tire you are going to have to look into a real lift kit. Also have you thought about a body lift?

Alignment is needed indeed. Ive seen a s-10 wit a 2" body lift before. It looks pretty.

if you are thinking about more than a small lift, look at the SFA conversion in progress thread at the top of this section

If you have an Ebay account or know somebody who does look for a place called S10Warehouse. They have all kinds of newer body style S10 stuff.. that's what this guy does. If anything look for the 4x4 S10 or Blazer shackles.. they'll bolt right up & more than likely they'll also give you that extra little lift you want. If not get the 4X4 rear springs.. they'll give you a little more clearance. Good luck

Well I am really getting some good feedback. I fully understand the alignment afterwards. I really don't want to do a body lift. The thing is that my front end already sits higher than the back, maybe my torsion bars are already raised a bit. I think putting two inch lift shackles and rancho shocks in the rear that it would be level or the rear would be a smidgin higher which is good anyway i think especially hauling equipment and people when i four wheel. I am concerned at what point do i have to worry about drive shaft angle though? My brother custom made wedges for his but he did a three inch lift. So at what point do i have to worry about that so i do not break u joints or anything?
Thanks again guys,
Don

I would say everything should be cool at plus or minus two inches.
