he got the jump on me at first and he was pulling away until i hit second. then i started gaining on him. by the time i hit the brakes i was 5 lengths ahead of him. i let out because i was already doing 85 in a 35. then all of a sudden he whizzes past me. i will have a chance to talk to him tomorrow at work to see if he thinks he won...
btw, it was a southern comfort edition with 20's...

All the Alalanches I've seen so far are more show than go. Some try, but they just waste the gas.

That's funny about the ricer drive-by afterwards. You should rub his nose in that.;)

That's funny about the ricer drive-by afterwards.

HaHa Why do people do that? Especially when it's apparent that they got beat, and your clearly stopping or slowing down.

well, he's claiming that he won. so i am going to have to race him again. this time with a agreed upon end...

10 to 1 says that will keep postponing the race

Yup, its always funny, for me at least, when your tryin to race a fullsize somethin, with alot bigger engine and their just sayin itll whoop your lil truck. But then they never run theirs against yours, its funny 2 me.

my dad has the 2500 series avalanch with the 454 in it. the first time i drove it i was pretty surprised that it wasn't faster given the hp and torque #'s. the suspension is so soft and the interior is so quiet that it's hard to tell whether it's actually quick when you're driving it. it definately feels slower than my sonoma

Gonna have to raise the bull**** flag on that one boss..the last year they built the 454 was in either 99 or 00, and that was in the suburbans, or the 3500 series pickups.. the biggest motor option in the avalances was the 6.0 which is a 366. Sorry

I never owned one but am pretty sure the 2500s came with 8.1. Do a Google or Wikipedia. But, that is an 8.1 (496) not a 454 like the kid said was in his dad's rig. And the hp and torque numbers for the 8.1 are at the flywheel, not the rear wheel.

id believe that the 8.1 came in the 3/4 ton avalances... but not the 454

sorry, i thought the 8.1 was the 454. it definately does have that engine and i realize that the hp torque #'s are at the flywheel.

my buddy's parents had a 2500 avalanche with the 8.1l in it...that was more go than show...could easily smoke both tires across the intersection and then some...one badass truck

8.1 is a 496 i believe

yea, i think your right, cause the 454 is the 7.3 or .4

7.4 Droopy... Cubes into liters- 454/ 61.2=7.4.. Liters into Cubes- 7.4x 61.2= 454. Just a little math for ya guys.

just as an aside - after 7000kms of driving the computer in my father's avalanche estimated an average mileage of 6.8 mpg

I work at a dealership and it is an option to get the 8.1 in the 2500 Avalanche, but 95' 99' they did offer a 7.2 in the 3/4 and 1 tons. So not really bull**** just misinformed

I think they are ugly as **** in my opinion. One of the worst looking chevy trucks ever.Id rather have a regular Silverado with a 6.0 Vortec and a nice set of rims. But thats just me.

IMO the Av with the body cladding SuxAss! I was ok with the later more Silverado looking Av, as long as it had body-color wheel mouldings and such. I am glad they got rid of the cladding on the new ones. I actually think the new Tahoe/Av front end is better looking than the 07 Silverado. Apparently JBA did too. Their 07 Silverado has a 07 Av facia...looks PIMP!

definately one of the ugliest trucks on the road. My father had a "naked" '03 or '04 and it was a bit better than his new one with all the cladding but it was still ugly. I actually tried to convince him to get a 4 door silverado with a hard tonneau cover and the same engine but it didn't work.
