I am working on a 1990 s10 Blazer and I need to replace the blower speed switch. I took off the bottom screws and pulled it out but it only comes out a little bit and I can't see how it is mounted in there. Do I need to take off the plastic ends on the selector arms. I got the top one off but the two vertical ones won't come off (not sure if they are supposed to). There are two 1/4" screws visable on the left side on the inside, should I take these out (they look like they would be tuff to get back in). Don't want to take off more than needed to replace the blower speed switch; anyone have some advice? Pics below

it takes a little force but pull the whole thing out, its the heater cables that are holding it in
What he said,
The cable is probably hung up on the left side, inside the box.
Gotta wiggle it back and forth and it should pull out, careful, but not not too careful

Looks as if you do not have the entire switch down far enough.....and I usually make sure both levers are all the way down, not sure if it makes a difference. what is wrong with the switch?

That does help... pushes the cable further back for the temperature select, which should give more wiggle room.
Just tug and wiggle the whole thing, it should come out more... I have found on the ones that have never been taken apart before, that they are a little harder to get out. If you are just replacing the blower switch, you may be able to just take off the 2 1/4" bolts that hold it on and not have to take the whole controls out. I don't remember though, it has been a few months since I've had one out.
Also, I'm just curious (because I have had blower speed/motor problems), are the fan speeds not working, so you are replacing the switch?
Oh, and Welcome to the Planet!
