K&N w/out heat shield. With a e-fan andthe intake you will feel a hellova diffrence!

I would pressurize it and cool it with an intercooler :p

i ran a k&n for about a year and it was good, would most likely still be on there if it didnt interfere with my engine driven air compressor, so i just built my own intake using a (holds my breath) civic kit cut and rerouted to fit.

I put mine together with 2.5" bends and tubing. Noticed It was hot on hot days so I fiberglassed the whole thing to insulate it. I still need to finish it with sanding/bondo/paint but it works great! By now you probably already have it made:D LOL

i have a 2.2, i heard not to put a wet intake (i.e. K&N, requires oiling), i forgot why he said not to use a K&N, but he said to use a cold air that doesnt require oiling, like the AEM CAI filters are a dry filter. What harm would be caused by puting a K&N FIPK intake do?

over oiling the filter could screw with the MAF

But, the 2.2L doesn't have a MAF! So go ahead with a K&N.

Wanna really get nuts?:eyebrows_ Try what I did to my '85 in the day...
It was just a std cab/ SWB Cali fleet issue w/ a TBI Iron Duke & factory 700R4 w/ 3.73 gears. First I put in Splitfires (They were made of good quality then) w/ parts store spiral-core wires, then a K&N replacement air filter & a Flowmaster 40 w/ a 1/4" oversized extention & tailpipe. Then I got creative with the help of a friend. He had a length of corogated tubing that was the same size as the air cleaner's inlet snorkel. So we took a hose clamp, cut-out a piece the fender liner before the wheelwell for the tubing to route thru, then cut a hole the I.D. of the tubing in the ureuthane chin valance w/ a couple of "tonsil" nubs that bent back 90* with a small carriage bolt/ locknut combo on each side to hold the tube in place. The result: a functional FAI (AKA:Fresh Air Intake. Re: Ram-air!) that got me 25mpg cruising 75-80mph goin' down to Bowling Green, KY for the Buick Nats. I avg. 25mpg daily with it before & after too. Kept pace w/ a stock older Civic (mid-to-late-80s) on the highway too. Whacha say to that folks?:eek2:
