over this past summer i never really used the AC that much because of gas prices and when i did it never really blew cold. That is because i think i need to be recharged with freon. Now for some reason my heater stopped working, it just blows the same temp air all the time. Is there some connection between the AC and the heater? Or i installed a sterio system a couple of months ago could i have shorted something out. I think it may be the heater core but im not sure and i don't wanna take it to the dealership just yet, im hoping i can fix it myself and save some $$. I really need to get this figured out cuz its getting cold here and i miss my heater in the mornings.

The temp control cable probasbly came off, not even sure if they're setup like that on the newer ones

Most likely cause is the blend door motor. Sometimes the linkage breaks/pops off but mostly the motor just goes bad. It sits on top of the AC/Heater box RH side. Here's a picture....

That's the door I was thinkin about. Sorry I didn't know the name. I also didn't know that it was actuated by a motor I thought it was still done exclusively from a cable or linkage set up.

you probably need to backflush the heater core too. that stupid red antifreeze
tends to deposit itself on the core if it hasn't been run for a while (over the summer). I have to flush my every other year.
