Well I finally got around to swappin out my a/c heater box to the a/c delete version. I still need to go get a blower motor assembly w/ one that had no a/c in it from the parts store. Then when I have a little more time I'll put on the by-pass pulley & ditch the compressor & then pull the rest from in front of the radiator. Anyone interseted in any of this stuff, it all worked great. Only reason I pulled it was I don't like a/c & I needed room for the upcomming engine swap... whenever I get time & money for that, too.
I've just done this too... amazing how much more room it give you. When you do the engine swap it certainly helps.

the blower motors should be the same, size the only difference is that the non ac blower motor will move less air flow. Gm used the same blower motor for many of its cars and trucks
Actually, I don't think the blower motors for non-ac and ac are the same, I've checked and they have different part numbers and different prices...

yea they do have different part numbers becasue the AC motor is a HD version that flows more air and the ac version has that little rubber hose to help cool the blower motor, the are the same size, gm has used the same blower motor for many differnt car and trucks, i took a blower motor form my Ac 93 s-10 and it fit fine in my 74 non ac k-5

The fan blade is definitely different. Otherwise, I agree, many different PN motors will fit other applications.

Fan motors could be the same but the squirl cage sticks out farther. I'll take a pic after I finish it up Sparky.. don't you worry. haha. & yes Tink, I was amazed of how much room it opened up, too. Now I can see the plugs & wires on the passenger side AND get to them no problem.

Well, I had to special order the blower motor because the squirl cage is in fact shorter in a non a/c application. So here's some pictures of it w/out the blower motor on it.
EDIT: to save space I shrunk the pix down.. still big!

It took me about 4 hours to put it in. I just dropped the inner fender. Would have been done in two if the bolt for the ground strap hadn't been in the way of the new box & the upper left bolt holding the box wasn't a pita to get to.

Well went back to the parts store because they had to special order me the motor w/ the cage. Wrong motor! Ended up talking the guy out of the cage (FREE!), just had to pull my cage off my motor in trade right there at the store, "Gimme two screwdrivers!". All back together now & working like a champ.

Here's some more pictures. I just took out the compressor & put the a/c delete pulley on. Had to grind away a little of the bracket so the power steering filler tube could be hooked up.
