ok guys, i know its been awhile since i've stopped through... and i figured i'd ask here as i trust the advice here and have always had good luck here
A guy in our local club had his wrecked s10's ECM done
my tuning is done, heres what i had done:
What i am doing:
3.42->3.73 Gear ratio, stock tire size
Eliminate top speed limiter
Raise redline 200rpm
Raise WOT Shift point +200rpm
Hypertech Power tune
Hypertech Transmission shift firmness
Turn on E-fan controls for 195* thermostat
but long story short as my truck is a daily, i want to know what ECM's i could theoretically swap in while i send off my ECM.
my options would be different of course, as i have 3.73 gears, i won't due shift firmness.....
what should i also have done, as i assume the individual is using tunercat so i have some options, i know i will remove torque management (unless you guys tell me otherwise)
opinions are welcome as to what i should have done and what years i can use as a spare, ect......

call a junk yard they will have a interchange manual that will tell you what years will fit you aplication

nah, the yards up here seem to be special ed, they have ECM's pulled, but don't always know what they came from
Hmm, i just sent a computer to a guy in Alaska with those exact same specs
ECM Interchange for a 2000 Bravada: http://198.208.187.182/internet/VehiclePartFits.jsp?autosel=A&part=16263494
The computer part number is 16263494
Now, all of those won't run your truck. They have to have a 4.3 tune in them to run your motor. As you see there some of those are setup for 5.7's, 5.0's, 454's, ect.
Also, you have to worry about passkey, i think if the vin is different or something the truck won't start. I know i had one guy that couldn't get his truck running, i turned off the passkey(or vats) and it started right up.
Annother thing to consider is that you may have to do a crank re-learn if you use a different ecm, i can dig up a thread on full size chevy about this. Baisicaly it costs ~$70 to have the procedure done.
I like to have the vehicle computer because then i KNOW that the tune is the right one for the various options. However if a person wanted to give it a try they could buy a computer off say ebay, and have it shipped direct to me. I would put in a tune that is closest to the options on the vehicle. It looks like i have a couple of 4X4 s-10 cal's.
If you go with a real tuner like pcmforless, or there was annother new one out, pcmamerica or something. They usualy have extra computers, and they can get you the right program in there right off.

For what you want to do it is really easy. If you want to do it yourself i would be happy to help walk you through it/ send you tables. The price is now $475 for tuner cat though unfortunately. Jet actualy bought the rights, and raised the price, and now you can only tune 2 cars, i can tune as many as i want.
Any how, here is what you would need: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=JET%2D14005&N=700+115&autoview=sku
They also made it so that you can't open tuner cat files, and i don't think i can open Jet files.
I can change pretty much anything that has to do with the operation of the engine or transmission. I can turn off codes. Spark timing, afr's, although i will only touch them on a mostly stock engine, and only the pe multipliers. I would need the vehicle in front of me for bigger things like cam swaps ect. Top speed limmiter. If you want the full list i can find it.

well, my thoughts were hopefully to get proficient with it, and start doing it up here in alaska. but for my own purpose i would be happy to have someone like yourself do it for me.... most of all i want to get rid of torque management, get a bit of a performance tune (but bear in mind that we don't have anything higher than 90 octane), my truck is heavy too, so i don't know what else i can choose from, i don't need gear ratios changed, but let me know what you can change and i'll work on picking up a spare ECM so i can send you the original one
Well, i guess i don't charge that much, and if you do end up getting into it yourself you can always change it.

yea, i plan on a supercharger later next year, so i would be changing stuff later on
With the blower you deffinately don't want the timing table i put in, it would very likeley knock like crazy. So if you do have me tune it plan on having to re-tune it before you do the blower.

yea, i planned on that, which is why i want to do the tune now, it may be a while till i do the blower (if at all)
Btw, this is what the program can edit:

Specificaly: http://james.jaguar.net/kctrading/Cal_Parameters.pdf
Not all of those pertain to all vehicles.

wow, thats quite a bit of stuff.... :)
now, after i do my winter tires and pay my c/c i may just order the program... but you're ok with modding my current one right?
i was looking at the pcmforless.com site, it would be like 175 for the tune, plus the core charge and all that, i think if i wait like another check or something i could just get the program and do it that way.
You can purchase additional vehicles correct?
You can purchase additional vehicles, but it looks expensive:
http://www.jetchip.com/products.asp?pid=24300
They have a trial program there also if you want to see what it looks like.
The DST Single User Software Package (part # 14005) will allow you to program 2 different vehicles from the list above. Licenses to program additional vehicles can be obtained from JET directly for $150.00 per vehicle. To obtain additional licenses call 800-535-1161.
I don't mind doing your current computer. But, i do have some disclaimers. Like i don't Guarantee performance increase. And it is possible for the tuner to mess up on tuning. If it does this it is possible for the ecm to be ruined. I program out of the vehicle, and that eliminates a lot of the problems that can happen. And i always read before flashing. Reading cannot mess up the computer, only programing. I haven't lost a computer yet, but i won't be responsible for replacing the computer if it messes up. If your engine blows up due to the settings i am not responsible, ect.
Edit, speaking of mail in tunes, i am not a fan of them: http://www.s10forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277279

that extra vehicle thing sounds like more work than its worth
yea i saw that thread on s10f., thats why i would rather have a fellow member do it
and kyle is kinda the judge of it for me, i mean i basically want to rid of torque mang. and maybe shift points, nothing too hard core.....
yea the disclaimer stuff is fine by me, i know mods can equal bad but thats part of the fun right?
