View Full Version : MSD 6al
Are they worth the price or should I go elsewhere with my money?
Also, will the stock coil be fine if using one of these?

the stock coil will be fine. i like my msd as far as what is does to power and MPG, but i have heard a lot of stories of msd boxes crapping out. but i have had mine for 2 years and it hasn't gone out yet.

A MSD6AL is a great product and well worth the money.Especially if you can find one cheap on Ebay. One of the best single mods you can do for a ignition system. And I have not heard of them crapping out that often. If they do its a rare thing that's for sure. Now their coils I have heard crapping out early when used with their boxes which I find weird but it has been reported.I have a MSD coil and it has never giving me problems at al.It made a good improvement over the stocker.I did have a MSD6AL in my truck and removed when I was gonna do a engine swap.It will be going back in when I do finally get my new engine finished.Probably around Spring.
Well, it's on the "to-do" list now....right after the honey-do list of course.

Oh yeah and to answer your question... the only difference is the AL has a rev limiter.

Yeah I forgot to mention that. But I wa just focusing on the advantages of the MSD boxes.I think they are the best on the market for the price compared to the other brands. The one I have is a MSD6AL because I was gonna convert my auto to a manual but decided against it.Juts to much work and money for the effects. But do go with the MSD box.
