Hey guys,

I'm just starting out a 2.8L V6 Swap into my '87 Chevette and have a few questions. I'm going to be running a carbureted 2.8 and want to run a manual tranny. I was wondering what standard transmissions came with the 2.8L V6's, and also how they differ from the auto Th200 that I believe came with the 2.8? (in length etc.) I was going to post this in the Driveline area but thought I would check with you guys first. Anyways thanks alot!

First off welcome to the Planet. Secondly if I'm not mistaken the TH200, powerglide & TH350 are about the same length at around 27". The differance is the TH200 uses the roughly the same distance from the engine side of the bellhousing to the trans mount as a TH400.. anyways it's about 26". Bolt patterns are different from the 60 degree V6's & 90 degree V6's & V8's. Me personally would go w/ a 90 degree 4.3 w/ the TH700-R4 behind it 30" overall & 21.5" to the mount. Still sounds like a cool project & hope to see some pictures.

As far as I know, the only manual that came with the 2.8L was the T-5, but I don't know the length of it.
