I have a 1993 blazer with the W motor. The other day I finally got it out of the shop. they put a new distributor in it, timed it, new coil, plugs, cap, rotor, b/c it wouldnt start and when it did it ran like ****.

Well after gettingi t back, i was drivingit home and it was just like someone reached over and turned the key off on me.. waited a few minutes, started back up, drove somemore, did it again.. waited, started it back up, got home with it, sat in driveway a few minutes, died.. i just went inside and said '**** it'.

i got a code 32 and 42 and caleld the shop that fixed it and he said the cat was so stopped up, i needed to get it cut off and everything should be fine. the cat clogged was the reason it died.

now i got it cut off, but not a piece of pipe in place yet.. it still does the same thing. just dies like someone turned the key off and sometimes it does that, then a few seconds later, like it fired back up.

well the code 32 will be your EGR curcit. which could have something to do with the C.C. but i doubt it. code 42 is the ignition control ground curcit.check the wiring that goes to the dist from the ECM. like the timing jumper line and all other wires in that plug you might have a break or shorted wire there. if you find trouble there that will 100% be your problem. if so i would go demand your money back from the repair shop. those morons should have known that from jump. and some people call their selves mechanics. LOL.

its actually a really good shop, it just kicked their ass and i kept on em to get it back. but they said to take it in if i had any problems.. problem is i traded it and the guy wants it and here i am, having to try and fix this before i'll let it leave my hands.

i'll go check all of those wires and see what i find.

Brown wire with white stripe is the EST control line. That gets disconnected in order to set timing. Make sure it didn't come loose. They had it disconnected so maybe it just didn't click all the way.

Code 32 is egr which is also a plug-in. Maybe they left it loose or it's stuck open. Stuck open egr will be very difficult to start and won't hardly stay running.

that wire is fine.. egr is fine.

since its under warranty.. i took it back.

the exhuast makes a horrible rattle that is sending a knock code and its pulling timing and immediately dies. so they are gonna fix that and make sure that is the problem.

The knock code is 43, ESC control. 42 is EST.

Dammifino why they put 2 codes that are rarely related so close together but the diagnosis for both is totally different.

i dont know either.. i told him its getting a 42, not sure what he got on the scanner today, but he did say as soon as it makes a rattle, it shows knock on the handheld and timing retards all the way and it immediately dies, all at the same time.
