ball joints

how fast can lower ball joints go bad in a 4x4 s-10. I replaced mine about 3000miles ago and was told the other day that they are bad and need to be replaced. They are not the cheap china ball joints either they are dana parts.

Only time I've seen them go that quick is when they were not greased when installed.

Conceivably, COULD it happen? Lots of water and sand, maybe. Defective when installed? Maybe but very doubtful. Guy not knowing how to inspect lower ball joints? My guess.

i am leaning twords the last reason the guy doing was getting very made at my blazer. It took him 4 hours to install my ps pump and book was 1.5 hours. The place also did not do a good chek of fluids like they sid they wold because i overheated about two milws from the shop and my radiator needed over a gallon of fluid plus loose lug nuts and there were unpluged vacum hoses

A worn wheel bearing can seem like a bad ball joint to someone who doesn't know. Sounds like maybe he isn't the most competent service tech?

I would definately let someone else check it out b/c it is not very likely that it is gone out yet. I had a lowered S-10 for 5 years and only changed mine once.

i did not think he was the brightest. It was more of a lack of options where to go i need a alignmet and my power steering pulley put on so i did not have a choice because they were the only place open on sundays.

call a cab and wait till monday thats what i would have done but, after all is said and done u might wanna throw that guy to the curb and get yourself a decent mech!

i cab would have not be a option because i needed to go 200 miles to get back to school. I am going to call and complain to the shop where i took it

no i never cranked the torsen bars

i just pulled the ball joints and they were bad the passanger side both upper and lower were bad and just the lower on the driver side. Alos any body have any advice for getting controal arm bushings out?
