i have a 98 2.2l sonoma (i know bad set-up) i was hoping for any real info on helping this sorry engine get some hp. i have a cold air intake and a jet power module, but it still needs allot of work to get to what i would call a decent amount of power. suggestions, links, and custom shops that might help are greatly appreciated.

the amount of money it would take to get a "decent" amount of horsepower is way too much. that engine was soley designed for gas mileage. you would be ahead to sell the truck and buy a 4.3 truck, or do an engine swap....which can also be expensive.

Do a search here in the 4 cyl. section. Keywords "Performance" and "horsepower" (not both words at the same time).
Lots of material. But I'll go ahead and break the bad news. Lot's of money for little results. A turbo or a super and you might make 200 hp. Might.

But thats still stretching it a little bit, id go with a 4.3 or 350 swap personally

i've found a supercharger kit for around $2000 but i'm scared the engine won't take more than 10-15psi. if i could find some new engine parts i might be in business. unfortunatly i think i would have to have them all custom made which would cost an arm and a leg. i think in a few years i might do an engine swap but i would like a little power til then. any advice on the new engine? could an ls1 fit or am i setting my sights a little high?

10 psi is fine. That'll get you close to the 200 hp mark. The biggest deal in not blowing it is finding someone who will tune it properly. You'll need bigger injectors also.
