I have a 2.8L v6 in a 92 s10 with TBI injection, my question is how hard would it be to swap out the TBI unit for a carburator or if it is even possible

You can do it & it shouldn't be that hard to do either. You need to find an intake manifold made for a carb & just mount the carb to it. I believe the fuel pumps run really low pressure, like 9-15 psi. so you you wouldn't need to change that out but may need to put in a fuel regulator to keep the pressure from blowing the seals on the carb. Other than that I don't see anything else except for the downshift cable, which they made aftermarket ones. I believe Edelbrock makes one.

edelbrock makes a carb manifold similar too the 2114 for the 2.8's
i tink also the earlier models had a carb stock, so you can prolly go the junkyard route. you'll probably need to get a carb'd distributor also since the current one is probably computer controlled, but i'm not sure.

Rochester made computer controlled carbs back in the early 80's

The carbs that came on stock 2.8's were non-computer controlled. The secondary is similiar in set-up to the Quadrajet but is fully adjustable. In other words, in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, they are easily adaptable to high performance 2.8's.

I meant to add S10 and Blazer equipped 2.8 carbs. Cars were computer controlled.
Cost? Call your local parts house for an 83 2.8 V6 carburetor. Add in the core deposit unless you find a junker carb. Intake manifold I imagine Summit would have the price there.
I'd guess a low of $350 (if you found a good re-buildable carb) to as much as a grand.
