I have a very tuff, complicated question for anyone who has the time and expertise to help me. O.K. here it goes!

I have a 1998 4.3 and 4l60-e tranny that I am putting in a different truck. I have pretty much everything to do it, but I am trying to figure out some wiring issues. The VCM has 4 plugs in it, 3 to the motor/tranny and one to “everything else“( the black one). I am trying to figure the “everything else”. I need to figure out what wires are needed to make the truck run and what ones are BS.

For example, what is “MIL Control”? It is wire 5 on the VCM, but I cant find anywhere else in the book that talks about it. If this wire is left disconnected will it affect the operation of the motor or tranny?

Wires 3 and 4, they are for the VSS output. I assume that this is for the speedo and the cruise control, can I leave these disconnected?

wires 11 and 14 are the serial data ( class II), I think this is for the vehicle anti-theft devise. I am got going to use a vehical anti-theft devise, so how will this affect other things? I gave been told that this will only prevent the fuel pump for turning on? Is this true, because I can wire my fuel pump a different way?

Wires 13, 17 and 18, are labeled “ignition + voltage” these ones should be easy.

Wire 16 “EGR valve control” and wire 20 “EGR valve low”. can I leave these disconnected?

Wire 22 “CPP switch signal”. I have no idea what a CPP switch is! Do you?

I don’t expect anyone out there to know the answers to these questions but if I can get any of them answered it would help me a lot!!!

If you end up needing passlock disabled give me a holler. Usualy the engine will start, then stall imediately if this is the case.

Egr you will be fine without, if you don't want obd2 codes they can be turned off in the programing. This sensor is on the front of the intake manifold. You shouldn't notice anything different with or without it.

Serial data is for the obd2 connector that normaly goes under the dash, i would keep it, it may be handy for diagnosing engine problems down the road.

MIL control, that is to turn the service engine soon light on on the dash if there is an obd2 fault that warents the light being on.
