i was wondering what the difference in the drilled, slotted, and dimpled rotors?
i recently found brake rotors that have dimples in it.
what is the best combination?
or does one of the 3 better by themselves?
thanks
I like cross drilled, I had them on my '01 Jimmy. I put 20"s on it with stock brakes(not much fun!) Then upgraded to cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads. It was a good combination. It improved stopping distance by a huge amount.

Cross drilled are good but I wouldn't pick slotted, they're nice if you're racing but if they're on a street car you'll be going through pads all the time because they cut the pad to get clean, crisp piece every time. I still like organic pads even though they wear out a lot faster. They don't dig themselves into the rotors nearly as much as a ceramic pad. Ceramic pads do have their place though & I will use them for racing.

Me, Im happy with my stock-like rotors, and ceramic pads, but im not the one for an all out race truck,.... yet :D

The two features serve slightly different purposes as I understand it. The slots are there to vent the gas that is created by the pads rubbing on the disk under braking. This gas generation is sufficient enough to reduce the clamping force of the pads which reduces your braking effectiveness.
The drilling helps to disipate the heat that is generated by heavy braking. Excess heat will reduce braking effectiveness as well and can also damage the rotor (disk) if it gets too high. I suppose neither are necessary for the street but both are cool. On the other hand, if one or both of these features keep your from rear ending someone or allow you to avoid someone that shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car, it's money well spent.
