View Full Version : doorseals
so i have hit the jackpot. a local salvage yard just bought a rolled 87 blazer with a 2.8. My question is this, if i could get ahold of the doorseals, would they fit my pickem up? i think that they would but im unsure.
a 1st gen truck is a 1st gen truck. all body parts are interchangeable.
same gose with 2nd gen with some exceptions like the 3rd door ext cabs.
The biggest qetion is why would want used door seals?
a seal kit for a fist gen 90 bux new from lmc. it includes; hood to cowl seal, radiator support seal, 2 door weatherstrips, and the rear window seal.
both door wetherstrips alone are 40 bux and the wheterstrip on the cab is(not included in complete set) is 30 bux.
I've used lmc seals on my 1st gen and they are a good quality seal and well worth the money. I've also used the jcwhitney kit and wouldn't piss on their seals if they were on fire.
here's a tip though: if you have allot of wind noise in you 1stgen check to see front fenders seals are still there. These seals get left out after a wreck or just rot off. They are prehaps the most over looked seals on the whole truck with exseption of the hood hinge seal.
the cab is drafty as hell, that is my problem, and they have shrunk over time

agree wit ya on that one, bought a seal for my k5 top and it was Sh!T 2 say the least, i wound up getting one form the junkyard by me, these guys have everything, even blinker fluid. so whoever needed blinker fluid on the planet i can get it.
do you have the cab strip on your truck? I haven't seen many 1st gens with the cab strip still intacked. For some reason instead of replaseing these when they crack people just take them off. here a link to pic

anouther thing is do you have a standered? or both seals intaked(shift boot upper and lower)?
On older trucks (exspecaily GMs) you'll be suprised at how many seals may be missing. Best thing I can tell you or anyone with an older GM is if you don't already have an LMC catalog get one. the catalog is free and I'll even give you the web adress

bvr, thanks for the link. I have an auto, and I know the seals need to be replaced, they have shrunk pretty badly. Yeah, i still have that cab strip, but what the heck is it suposed to do? and is there anything anyone makes that will reduce the wind noise? Does anyone else have incredibly bad wind noise when going 65mph+? I thought it was because of the bulky mirror, so i pulled it in, but it didint help any. I need something that can close the gap between body and door. the 2nd gen trucks have a rubber piece, is there anything i can use for my truck?
