Well there forums are all down and jammed up since Boyd took today to get rid of Blue Bear. Yeah Blue Bear seemed to be the non listening jerk at times, but you got " The Dork Machinist" and others to contend with too. Have to remember this show is a show, scripted and paid for by Discovery Channel. Also since its on TV and rated fairly high it also allows Boyd free advertising on his products allready most have begun to complain about.
Is Blue Hear really gone?? I doubt it, just for the shows sake yes, but not out of the shop. Remember this is scripted for audiences to really get invovled with which drives ratings up. But I hope this last move spells doom for Boyd!!
I never really over the years liked the cars Boyd built, never looked Rodish for real life just a make over pretty rich boys kinda thing. After all this watching I have grown to disrepect what knowledge this pretty boy builder had to the industry of hot rod buildups. Watching episode after episode he reminds me of a Wigger Rigger, sorrry, cant think of a better term!! His buildups lack alot, his knowledge in them shows some too, his motor and driveline skills just arent there and now the show. Well now he is selling hoards of stuff and making money in gob fulls, based on us morons that just need a little power each weekend. While Blue Bear may have been scripted to what happened for the shows sake , for me it finished Boyd as anybody. His rods were allready sujectable to begin with. For all intent and purpose this car was to be Blue Bears. No matter who owns the shop etc, its the onwer of the car whom decides what HE wants and is willing to risk even though they say Boyd was going pay for it, The H*ll we was, the show was for another episode installment that would generate big dollars for Discovery Channel and Boyd. Boyd gets a boat load of money to do this!! I have to agree with the Little Prick Blue Bear which is a scripted person on the show. Boxed frames dont look good, and it can be dealt with as far as flex other ways than to box it in and leave it looking old fashion hot rodded.
PROPS to Blue Bear for basically telling Boyd to PISS OFF!!! I would have been much happier if he would have cold cocked Boyd!!!
they were both wrong and both right.
blubear wanted a period rod and kept saying they didn't box frames int the period he was shooting for. Well it may not have been a modern box like boyd wanted, but my grandfather did reinforse his frames with a plate centered in the frame rails, or angle and c channel wraped around the frame rail. I don't know how they built them in cali back then, but in this part of TX they over built everything. So blubear was wrong about the original roders not reinforseing frames.
Boyd was wrong for asking him to change his design... peiod the end.. If someone had told Boyd to chang his design(outher than a well paying customer) what do thinck boyd would have done. *****ed, yelled, and fought.
Blubear was right in the begining when he said boyd was out of touch and shouldn't have cut up a rare and beautifully restored car like that to make a "Boydster". Blubears frame would have never held up to that flathead, but He did the right thing by not selling out.
He really did get fired from boyds shop, and has filed charges aganst boyd to get his car back. i remeber reading an article online about it way before this episode came out.

Boyd is nothing more than a over hyped nitch. He has no skills at all and has everyone else to rely on for the talent "Like BlueBear"!!BOYD WAS OUT OF LINE PERIOD!!He knows flat out that the kid has more heart, desire, and pure FOCKING talent than he will ever have. That is why he is scared to let the kid build it his way.He does not want to be showed up by the kid which he would have.Boyd done nothing but try to humiliate that kid but done nothing but make him look like a gutless coward.I would have biotch slapped him and the bald **** who runs the mouth to much.In fact he would be the first one I would take a 1/2 breaker bar and beat the **** out of.Boyd does not even build his own engines.Which number one is the heart of a car.I totally respect that kid for standing his ground. He can be a little **** but I will always respect a man who stands up for his principles.I would have said you wanna build a Boydster than why did you challenge me.Because you afraid I will beat you hands down.Again my hat off to the kid for standing his ground and not back down from the almighty Boyd.I say FOCK Boyd!!

This to me says it all, God I love this post!!
Discovery Channel has figured out a formula for motorsport themeshows that is making lots of cash for those involved. But at what cost?
Boyd Coddington is doing a great job of transforming his legacy from legend to TV Freakshow.
Entertainment doesn't need to be so mean to get ratings, it just needs to be well done.
You are not doing a service to the industry. On the contrary, you are perpetuating the popular notion that automotive enthusiasts are foul- mouthed trailer trash.
Can you say OJ Simpson!! Thats what Boyd just did!!!! All because some Blonde, I'll marry ya cause ya got money said, Boyd dont ya think BB should go!!

Icould never get into the show. It all looked to fake to me.
fake? Oh you mean like the model A truck buried in sand with new tires(dressed tires at that) or the way they just happened to find a truck on the way home.
how bout the mustang they found in the barn. no telling how long it had been there but yet it had clean plug wires and crancked on the 1st try. And anoughter thing how maney of us have looked at abadoned cars with tire that held air.
Ohh yea you can tell things are setup. Kinda like Mcgyver always haveing just the right thing to make what he needed to get out of a jam.

I watch it. . . Blue Bear and Charlie are about the only ones that know what the **** they're doing. . . Sure, Blue Bear is cocky and screws up -- but at least he has a clue!

i caught a few min of the show, the exact point where Blue Bear was getting yelled at, then my dad comes in the room and changed the channel. I dont regularly watch the show becasue i cant get into it, i caught the commercial while i was watching american casino. I used to watch Monster Garage, Monster House and American Chopper every monday, but stopped a few months back because of how everything got to be out of hand. Once the ratings went up and the shows were a hit, everything had bigger budgets and sold many products. I only wanted to see what happened to blue bear, i have seen a few episodes before, each involving blue bear as being the target. So i kind of figured it was him that would get the axe. Now, i dont care for the "hot rods" he builds or the shirts or the hats, but the wheels that have his name on them are pretty nice wheels. I do own a set of Boyd Coddington Smoothie II wheels for my truck(not a good wheel for daily driver in the summer), i got them last year and it wasnt just because his name became popular from the show. I was looking for a decent wheel that not everyone and their mother owned and that was what i came across, i actually wanted the wheels before the show started, just never had the extra $$$ to get them. Its not like his wheels became over popular among custom truck enthuisests(non megabuck magazine trucks), I have only seen one other set of Boyd Coddington wheels in my area. Unlike the over popular West Coast Choppers and OCC shirts due to the discovery channel's work of selling those companies out. Sorry for the long post.
so are we takeing bet on how maney shows it takes before blubaer comes back(what is the proper spelling for BB?) or do we wait and see if he follows in fooses footsteps.
for those who don't know foose and boyd ust to have something going together. I'm not sure if foose worked for boyd or if it was somekind of incorperated rod companey, but any way they had a falling out a few years back about design issues(go figure). The partnership brokeup and foose went on to become the youngest person ever inducted into the hotrod hall of fame. I belive it was foose that won back to back riddler shows too.
Boydsters were hot in the 80s and early 90's, but come on. The cali paint jobs and over choped fiberglass kit coupe's has been done to death. Show me something new. Give me a challange. Show me some skill. Show me something that every person in this country can't built in their garage.
Now cense we'er talking rat rods......I personaly hate the rat generation wannabes. It's a bunch of kids that thinck they know how it was done back in the day. they'er almost as bad as the new generation ricers. Well kids those t-buckets and model a rods were the equivalent of a 79 camero back then. Rusty sure, but not rusted out completly. Get with the programe just because it can be driven dosen't mean you should.

For those also that dont know, Charlie had allready left and went to Foose and they are building a car for a big gala event in which all the premier builders bring a car to see who is the best and Foose won it last year.
Now to BVR's statement,
November 1990 brought about the beginning of a relationship with Boyd Coddington and Hot Rods by Boyd, becoming a full time position in 1993, which lead to Managing Director where Chip eventually became the President of Hot Rods by Boyd. Chip, who is widely acclaimed for his "Boyd Look" design and creative skills, was responsible for many internationally known vehicles such as: Roadster, Sportstar, Boydster I and II, and Boyd Air to name a few. Chip's venture with Boyd however, ended in 1998. At this time Chip and his wife Lynne started their Huntington Beach, California based company Foose Design, an automotive and product design Development Company. His company specializes in illustration, graphics, ideation model making, surfacing and complete construction of automobiles and automotive related products. These products are available to private individuals, television, film and the automobile manufactures.
Now the secret to Boyd is out, he never was what they made him out to be.

I was waiting on someone, but didnt think it would be here to REMEMBER!!!! Thought some of the guns at the Discovery Chat area would have brought that up. WHat did Boyd drive away before???? Due to his arrogance etc???
In 1998, Chip was honored at the SMRA banquet and was the first recipient of the Good Guys Trendsetter Award, once again creating another historic moment in the Hot Rod industry.
In 1999, Chip won the prestigious AMBR (America's Most Beautiful Roadster) Award at the 50th Anniversary of the Grand National Roadster Show with Fred Warren's "Shock Wave". Similarly, in 2000 Chip won the AMBR again with Chuck Svatos' "0032". Overall, Chip has been involved with six different AMBR winners, including the 1995 winner the "Smoothster", the 1996 winner "Boydster", the 2001 winner "Impact" (designed by Chip and finished by Barry White), and the 2003 winner "Boydster II' (designed by Chip and finished by Bobby Alloway).
The new millennium also meant new endeavors for chip. In January of 2000 Chip signed a licensing agreement with MHT Luxury Alloys, allowing Chip to start the production of Foose Wheels.
The Millennium was proving to be quite prosperous. Chip won the coveted 2002 "Ridler" Award at the 50th Anniversary Show of the Detroit Autorama with Bob and Wes Rydell's 35 Chevy Master, otherwise known as the "Grand Master". The year of 2002 was very exciting for Chip as he was inducted into the Darryl Starbird Rod & Custom Car Museum Hall of Fame. The end of the year closed with a bang for Chip and his highly acclaimed staff at Foose Design when the Discovery Channel filmed a documentary, which aired repetitively on the TLC network in March of 2003. The documentary featured several of Chip's award winning vehicles, but the show's focus was to give the viewers a chance to witness Chip's visionary talents come to life with a re-design of the 2002 Thunderbird. The redesigned Thunderbird otherwise known as the "Speedbird" received another award for Chip, as it made its debut at the 2002 SEMA show in Las Vegas, where Chip was presented the "Best of Show" award from Ford Motor Company.
The year 2003 was equally exciting for Chip. He was honored once again with an induction into the Grand National Roadster Show Hall of Fame. This year was filled with enthusiasm, especially when Chip received a second "Ridler" award at the Detroit Autorama, which featured Ron Whitesides 34' Mercury Stallion. 2003 came to its pinnacle when Chip embarked upon a new venture, designing clothing and accessories featuring many of his award winning cars.
Throughout the course of Chip's career he has been honored to receive the Good Guys Street Rod of the Year Award seven times, and his cars include: 1990 a 32 two door sedan, 1991 a 29 two door sedan and 40 delivery for **** Mattiolli, 1995 a three window coupe for Bud Simes, 1997 a 39 Chevy Coupe built by Troy Trepanior of "Rad Ride by Troy" named the "Predator", 1999 a 54 belvedere also built by troy at "Rad Ride by Troy" named the "Sniper", and last but not least, in 2001 Chip received the Good Guys Street Rod of the Year Award featuring the "Grand Master".
Chip and his wife Lynne reside in Southern California with their two children. This year 2004 is proving to be as exhilarating as the past years, Chip is starting a new television series called "Overhaulin", which will be airing on the TLC network late April of 2004, please check your local programming for details.

I made a few posts on the Discovery channel message board for AHR.If you go there just try and guess which one is me lol.I know the kid was a **** but who wasn't at that age.But look at the heart the kid showed when Boyd Cockintongue started trying to make him change his frame. That is the kinda heart a lot of the youth today does not have. And he actually has the talent and skill to back up his mouth.Hell I was way worse than him for running off the mouth and wise cracks. But I never sold out and never backed down and neither did he.You watch we have not seen the last of the kid.He has the skills to go on to bigger and better things. It would be cool if him and Foose hooked up.That would really burn Boyds *** to see the ones who didn't kiss his *** together.
