Shock suggestions?

91 S10 Blazer 4x4. Use it to tow my camaro and other stuff, its also my second vehicle when needed. It needs new shocks. It has RPOs F51 (HD Shocks) and F60 (HD Springs). Im looking for shocks that can handle the towing duty but still give me somewhat of a decent ride (i know i cant expect too much). Any suggestions?

I heard the HD bilsteins are great, but they make the ride very harsh. I know i cant expect much from an HD suspension, but dont wanna be jostled around constantly if i can help it. Was looking at edelbrock IAS shocks, but dont know if they can handle towing duty.

OEM Bilsteins are good perf/ride from a ZQ8 susp.but not for towing. Id try some KYB AGX series shocks. They are externally adjustable, comfortable to stiff by a 5-way adjustment. For an adj. shock they are reasonably priced. Ive seen them used on perf. applications like SCCA to the tow vehicle to the events.

Oh FYI, Bilstein makes other shocks that are more in-line to wider apps. than the ZQ8s I mentioned. They had a set for 4x4s and also 2WD blazer (upgraded) apps from GM on the S-series. Didnt mean to downplay Droopys suggestion. Hope I didnt come across like that.

i'd use air shocks in the rear, they're cheap and fully adjustable and can withstand towing really good. They are however kind of a rough ride depending on what p.s.i. there filled up at.

I have KYB gas-a-just on my 4x4 Tahoe 2door. I use it to pull a car trailer all the time they ride great and even better with a good load. I have used the air shocks we had them on a 2500 truck on the family farm but they ride really hard if there isn't a load in the rear.

I agree the air shocks are single purpose even though you can fill/release air pressure. The Gas-A-Just are a good inexpensive alt too as blue mentioned =)
