I have a buddy who building an AWD S10 but it won't be a Sy clone. He wants to give it a NASCAR look so he's planning on using 15x10 black steel wheels and 295/50R15 tires. He's determined to make them fit (flared fenders, bedsides, custom inner fenders, anything it takes) so please don't waste your time saying otherwise. The problem is that the only tires I can find that size are the BFG Radial T/A's, Yokohama AVID S/T's, and Goodyear Eagle GT II. None of these are available with a speed rating higher than T and he needs at least H-speed rated tires. So does anyone know of any H-rated 295/50R15 (or close to that size) tires?
I want to see pics of this thing when it has some progress, I've been kicking around the NASCAR truck look idea also, but I would proly do it with 16 inchers. Its that or an oldskool look, can't decide.

I'd say you're buddy's S.O.L. because I looked & I can't find anything past a T either. I'm not saying they don't exhist but I've searched & searched & just can't find anything in a 15 rim w/ that rating. How often is your buddy gonna get over 118mph anyway?

yea. the T rating would be fine as long as he won't be above 118 for a extended period of time. it takes a little bit of time to heat the tires up to the point that they fail and a trip down the stip won't do that. and on the street any cop won't allow that speed for very long anyways.

He's got a nitroused 383 from his totaled Camaro (he enjoys driving fast) and my stock 4.3 goes 105 mph so over 118 shouldn't be too hard. I did find 29.00 x 12.50-15 Hoosier Pro Streets, which are H-speed rated, but they're kind of tall. Of course we could just buy Goodyear Eagle road race tires and hope no one notices :-) ... or, as you say, just not worry about it.

Point is that the speed rating is for SUSTAINED time at that speed given by the tire manufacturer. Your buddy, no matter how he drives, isnt going to be Mario Andretti 100+ MPH for a SUSTAINED period of time. Most likely he will do it for a mile at the most maybe once a month. It would be ignorant for him to do so anyway and endanger other peoples lives. Only if he is going to frequent Daytona, Talladega, Sears Point, Etc. would he have the absolute need for a tire like that. As far as 15" tires are concerned, the manufacturers only make high speed rated tires with racing compounds and minimal tread. They will NOT be DOT approved and illegal to run anyway. Tell him 2B realistic and go for an updated look and tire if speed rating is what hes stuck on or 'NASCAR' it up and do Black WagonWheels and some BFGoodrich Radial TAs.

I e-mailed Mickey Thompson tech and found out that the Sportsman S/ R, 26.0 x 12.0R15 LT, Radial tires have a speed rating of H. 130 mph plus a cool tread pattern!
Not that wide, but my Bridgestone Potenza G009 in a 225/60 15 are an H speed rating.
