I'm still giving a lot of thought to using an efan, and if I do, I would like to use one of the LT1 dual-fans. Ok, here's the question:
Is there any difference between the early 90's type:

and the mid to late 90's:

All the installs I've seen use the bottom one, is it more efficient?
There shouldn't be too much difference. Try stopping by a local gm dealer and see if they can bring the CFM specs up on their system. I know when I talked to the local ford dealer they found that the specs for the 3.8 taurus dual speed was 2800/3500 .

Hey Matt, check the how-to forum. I just reposted my taurus vs hayden article. Dunno if that will help or not.

Those fans are supposed to be the same except the desgn got a little different the newer the car. There might be a difference in cfm but I doubt it's very much.

HenryJ that is really nice!THANK YOU!How long have you had it installed?has it held up offroading?Any signs of stress on the plastic?
Here is the tread from the S-10CREWCAB.COM forum (http://www.s-10crewcab.com/phpBB2/index.php) - LT1 Electric Cooling Fans (http://www.s-10crewcab.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2033)
I have had them installed since August of last year.
They have performed really well and as I mention in that thread, they match the new thermostats temperature range much better. It was late in the year so I did not get a chance to try them out in 100+ degree temps while using 4x4 low range. I did however have no problems running the AC around town in the dog days of August :D
I haven't seen any "signs of stress". the bottom sits on top of the lower mount, just as the stock shroud did. The top holds it forward against the radiator, and maybe supports the weight somewhat.
I would do it the same way if I had it to do again.
